Yup. We'd have Redickulously Gay Head on our team. And we'd have posts all over the place going, "Juwan Swift Redickulously Gay Head" The immaturity would be endless.
Or if you're in a hurry, "Juwan Reddickulously Swift Gay Head?" Or "Boy I have a Reddick from all of that Swift Gay Head"
im just gonna express my opinion. i dont kno what's been said before this. From the way things look, Brandon Roy is probably our best option if we can pull it off. From what I hear, I hear ATL is going to pick up Roy with the 5 pick. and then we'll pick up shelden williams at the 8th pick and we'll trade him and Luther Head for Roy. I say go for it. I hate to see Luther leave, but lets be honest.....we all knew he would not stay long in Houston just cause he's too small. we're in desperate need of some youth, and a good 2 Guard. Roy brings this and he says he's pretty confident in running the point as well. He's supposed the most "complete" player in the draft and is a high favorite to win Rookie of the Year! How can you go wrong with that? Rudy Gay supposely had a good workout with the Raptors and now the Raptors are probably gonna get him with the top pick, but the Raptors may trade their top pick and something else for a high NBA talent. All you Reddick fans......the guy now has some nerve damage or something wrong with the disk in his back....you guys are hating on t-mac and his back problems and you want to pick up reddick at this early age with his back problems. YOU HAVE TO SAY NO!!! if we can get Reddick at the 32nd (highly doubtful) go for it then or trade up to get him. Couldn't you see it now? Alston/Roy Roy/Reddick T-Mac Juwan/Stromile/Hayes Yao damn...that's sexy!
now that I think of it....screw reddick....i'm not too sure what we can pull off from here and who knows how much talent would be left later on in the draft but if we can pull off a decent PF by trading down that'd be great. J-Howard + 32 Pick for a decent PF.....that's probably better. Alston Roy Tmac Decent PF Yao
I haven't seen anyone mention this, but there is a lot of talk about Rudy Gay playing the 4 if he came to the Rockets. It's a little bit of counting chickens before there hatched, but playing Gay at the 4 in most situations would be a waste of his biggest talent. Gay was the best perimeter defender in college basketball last year. He was one of the very few true lockdown defenders. He will step in as one of the top few perimeter defenders in the game. During the one-on-one workouts, he was the only one who frustrated Morrison. Gay is a natural 3, but he can play the 2 if he doesn't have to create much on offense. He'll eat NBA 2-guards alive on defense.
Redick is fine Getting him later in the first round would be a coup, someone is going to pick him up and he is going to be very productive. Don't let a minor back problem cause you to lose out on a talent that is unique in the NBA, and fits in perfectly with the Rockets. DD
It was all over ESPN yesterday DD that he does indeed have a herniated disc. He says it doesn't need surgery, but apparently NBA execs are split on whether it's true. I was a big Reddick guy going into yesterday, but now the only I want him is if we trade back into the bottom part of the draft or he falls all the way to 32.
if i remember correctly i've read it too, on hoopshype i think ... an herniated disk pressuring on a nerve ... and he could slip to the early 20's ... but they also say it doesnt require surgery or anything ... just cortisone shots ... for now
I would rather have Redick and his competitiveness, shooting and high energy motor over someone like Gay whom has motivation problems. Read the link I provided, it says he is fine. DD
Where's the link DD? By the way, I like you, would love to have JJ's competitive nature on this team.
I would too, assuming I had a pick outside the top 10 and Gay didn't drop. JJ doesn't suck. I just think #8 is too high for him. Trading down and getting him later is a different story.
See this is the problem I think most people have, pick number 8 is not that high and you RARELY get starters at number 8. In fact, beyond number 6 or so, it is more of a crap shoot than a guarantee. The first 5 or 6 picks are usually good players - usually, but after that, it is all speculation. Redick is fine link 2 DD
Tell that to Kirk Hinrich (#7), Luol Deng (#7), T.J. Ford (#8), Channing Frye (#8), Amare Stoudemire (#9), Andre Iguodala (#9), Joe Johnson (#10), Vladimir Radmanovic (#12), and Richard Jefferson (#13). On the flip side, what about Kwame Brown (#1), Darko Milicic (#2), Jay Williams (#2), Mike Dunleavy (#3), Eddy Curry (#4), Nikoloz Tskitishvili (#5), and Dajuan Wagner (#6)? Were they LOCKS to be All Stars? The point is... the #1 pick through the last pick is a giant crapshoot.
I guess my thing is, if the Rockets are indeed going Gay, what's the drop off with maybe getting Morrison instead if he's gone. Sure athleticism, but the dude can flat out score the ball anyways, so?... And competitive fire? "Pitbull" of all "pitbulls" IMO... Please someone come up with a better excuse than diabetes, IF we are indeed looking at drafting Gay, an NBA 3, like Morrrison, which threatens to move T-Mac back to the 2.
