T-Mac was a SG his entire career untill he became a Rocket and was forced to play SF. Everyone acts like he would be out of posistion at 2, no he would be in his natural posistion.
Don't be. I think Brewer may still be one of the better players to come out of this draft. Unheralded, but a strong work ethic, good teams want him (Phoenix for example...)
It's a double negative. They want you to think that they're releasing false information about "wanting Gay", when in reality, they do want Gay.
I love when people whose only exposure to college BBall is watching a game or two of the NCAA tournament try to make judgements of players based on website scouting reports.
With MJ on board i strongly believe the bobcats will select Brandon Roy.... I think the rockets in the end will settle with Ronnie Brewer....
Is anybody considering that the MJ loves Brandon might just be a smokescreen too? Nobody with any brains and discipline is giving up their true draftboard.
I'll be thrilled if we walk away from the draft with either Gay or Roy. I'll also be excited if we somehow end up picking Aldridge or Brewer. The rest of the players don't appeal to me as much because I feel like they'll all be players that need time to adjust to the NBA. I think Roy, Gay, Aldridge and Brewer should be ready to step in and contribute (in one way or another) this year. That's very appealing to me.
I feel the exact same way. Brewer is the player I've wanted all along but the last few days have been brutal.
I guess this explains why Rudy, of all the players that are in the green room seems to be recieving the least amount of media attention. I have not really heard much about Rudy on espn or on draftexpress. Most of the press I have read seems mention mostly Thomas, Morrison, Roy, and Bargnani. After thinking about it, I cant say I would be suprised to see him go number 1 tomorrow and see Toronto deal one of their froncourt guys for another pick or a quality vet.
I'm sure the Rockets are still looking at all their options, with Rudy Gay and Brandon Roy. I am almost certain that the Rockets will not pick up a big man in this draft as they will probably look to free agency for a PF/C (wouldn't be surprised to see Cato back in a Rockets' uniform, I really like Melvin Ely, but thats another post). I still think that Roy is the Rockets' first choice and they will try to exhaust all avenues to obtain him. Roy's game would mesh well with the Rockets' style and has the ability to come in and start right away. Obviously his knees are questionable, but I'm sure every team's doctors and the doctor who performed the surgeries were thorough in their evaluations. While I do like Rudy Gay's size and athleticism, I do not like his questionable character. I don't like it when you hear that he takes plays off and needs to be motivated to take his game up a notch. It sounds like shades of Eddie Griffin. I think Gay will get snapped up at #3 by the Bobcats and I do believe the Rockets have a deal in place to get Brandon Roy.
Well, I won't be dissapointed in the player we get (I'll be ecstatic), but it is kind of a small letdown when everyone has been talking possibly getting a top 5 player in the draft. Now, when it is all said and done, Brewer or Carney could be the steals of the draft and/or be an UNBELIEVABLE fit on the team. But, as of now, it is a little human nature to be somewhat dissapointed if they end up going that route afterall.
I don't think anybody has ever said that Gay "takes plays off". Just that he's not assertive or aggressive enough with his play. There's a big difference between the two in my mind. Besides, if there's one team where it'll be okay for him to just do his thing and be a complementary player, it's this one.
When someone with Gay's talent disappears in games when he has the ability to dominate, I'll call it taking plays off. He is known to defer to his teammates but still has that "lack of desire and fire" that he should have.
Doc, so you see Roy as a smokescreen? Well, have you got any tidbits as to what the Rocks are planning back there amongst the smoke? Now there is a persistent rumor that the Bulls and Rockets are talking a deal. Roy seems unlikely to be the 2nd pick of the 1st round, so if we do manage to snag the Bulls pick in a deal, who is our target?
That's one way to look at it. Another might be that he was a Soph and two of his teammates were a Jr and Sr who are also talented enough to be projected as Lottery picks.
This is exactly why I want him on our team verrrrrrry baaaaadly! A guy like him could thrive on offense with two superstars taking most of the heat. Gay has the talent to be a franchise player but we only need him to fill in offensive gaps, play good perimeter defense, get out on the break and shoot from the outside. If he develops off-the-dribble moves and starts commanding double-teams on offense in a couple of years, we'll take it. Roy would be fine with me but if we can get Rudy Gay, GET HIM!!!
