Well, it makes some sense, especially with Morris. I do think the Rockets are genuinely happy with Patrick's defense, though I don't know if you can run a frontcourt out there that is so offensively-challenged (Patrick is decent, but not great). I'm just not sure how much I buy into the showcasing thing since I've seen a lot of instances (with both Adelman and McHale) where it seems the coach is not inline with what the front office would think is ideal. We'll see though. I certainly think it's in all of our best interest if the Rockets front office and coaching staff worked in alignment like that. If you're able to move Marcus for something useful, then promote TJones to the rotation, I would agree that would be a lot better than simply playing TJ now (and letting MM go to waste).
If I may please throw in my 2 cents here.... Clutch might have different thoughts, but right now I personally believe that they see the PF/ backup big spot as a position in flux right now, and they want to use this season and possibly next to let the "Salmon Swim Upstream" as Morey would say. One or more of them have the ability over the next 6 months to separate themselves from the pack. Whats important to know is that whoever separates themselves will most likely become the player with the greatest trade value as well. So if its Morris or Patterson that separate themselves this season, Im not sure why you would want to trade them just to play a lesser player who just so happens to be a rookie??? Meaning if Patrick/Morris are the best of the 6, that might not bode well for the all star potential of the other 4. So in essence, what's the point of destroying the value of Patterson to play a lesser Patterson? My thoughts are that if a rookie is going to be that much better than Patterson/Morris he will eventually turn a corner during this season, and make it an easy decision for McHale to make on who is the minutes go to. -Look at the Budinger/Parsons situation last year. If your thoughts are true, then they would have never had started Parsons over Budinger. The fact is, Parsons just made the switch an easy decision for McHale to make in terms of playing time. If someone breaks out of the pack it will be an easy decision for McHale to make.
What a knee jerk reaction, I thought these tanking threads were put to bed when we got Harden. Tanking is unsportsmanly, and I don't think the rockets should ever tank. If they try I'll be proud of them regardless. Also, it's not like we're getting blown out either, we could very easily be 4-0, if some things went our way (Lin gets that foul called in the Nuggets game; Harden gets the foul call in the Blazers game). I want to be able to support my team, I can't do that if I know they're tankers.
