No, not that he was speeding but that after all the other incidents and the 2nd chances the team gave him he still couldn't avoid a run in with police, he was speeding but he had also been drinking, even if it wasn't over the legal limit it's hardly a position he should have been in.

If something similar had happened to a Rockets player with a history of run in with the law and it were reported in the GARM would you care?

I don't get outraged over speeding tickets. you can qualify all you want. the guy still has the right to hang out and drive his car at three in the morning. he was speeding, he wasn't drunk. its no big deal.

Just because he wasn't legally drunk doesn't mean he wasn't impaired. He was a whole .008 off from being legally drunk.

Looking at this instance in a vacuum is one thing, but the guy has a history of bad behavior. I don't think the commissioner has even commented on this particular case, but players are cut all the time when they continue to rack up offenses or get in trouble with the law. If he can't even make it a month without a brush with the law, what are the chances he can last another year?

If you are constantly under the gun why even take a chance... it just shows that you really don't take it seriously. He was close to going right back to jail. That was all it took for the Bears to cut him.

    Makes sense to me.

I'm not outraged but I am pissed because the Bears have just lost a fairly talented frontline player. He was cut because he couldn't be responsible enough to avoid anymore run ins with the law.

It wasn't just a speeding ticket. He was speeding at 3 in the AM, had been drinking to were it was sufficiently noticable for the cops to take him in. All he ended up being charged with was speeding but it wasn't like it was your everyday speeding ticket.

do you know how few drinks you need to be "legally" drunk. when I hear stories like this, I'm sure the officer probably went out of his way to take this guy to jail because it was tank.

to not be at the legal limit and still go to jail is what I find more disturbing and honestly if I were tank I would take legal action.

In some states, Texas included I believe, it's still illegal.

he was probably drunk when they tested him on the street and then his bac went down just enough to be under the limit by the time they got him to the station and drew blood etc.
