Wut? I can't tell if you're serious or trolling. You know that the odds of Houston keeping or losing its pick literally doesn't change at all whether they have the worst or third-worst record in the league, right? How is it possible we've been tanking for months and fans still don't understand the lottery scenario?
Contract year in team full of scrubs, numbers not translating into wins. Edit: BTW, I actually like him as a player, just saying.
Yeah, that's why I kind of want to win a game once in a while. I've actually been heartbroken over a few of the nail biters we've had recently.
So your trying to tell me that if you finish 1-4 its a 50 percent chance you get top 4, and 50 percent change you get out side a top 4?
I think those losses (if perceived the right way) will help further the development process for the young guys (Tate/Wood/KPJ) Its up to them to utilize the experience
Teams that finish with the three worst records are all guaranteed a 52.1% of getting a top 4 pick and a 47.9% chance (percentages on tankathon will differ sightly because of rounding) of not being in the top 4. The only thing that differs is how that 47.9% is distributed, as the worst team can only get the 5th pick, the second worst can get the 5th or 6th, and the third-worst team can pick anywhere from 5-7. But because Houston doesn't keep its pick if it's 5th or worse, there's essentially zero difference between whether they finish 28th, 29th or 30th in the standings at the end of the year. At this point, winning games does them no favors. But because they're so "ahead" of Orlando for that 4th pick by four games, winning a few games probably won't hurt them that much either. Barring some shocking winning streak between now and the end of the season, Houston's chances of keeping its pick is not going to change moving forward.
Here's MY math: Currently, we suck. If we tank, we have a shot at not sucking in a couple of years. If we don't tank, we'll definitely keep sucking for the foreseeable future.
We joke about tanking to cope man. The players and coach are trying to win; just ain't good enough right now. Which in turn benefits the lottery odds. Rockets has no RPGs, can't anti-tank even if they wanted to.
