If you don't mind an off campus dorm, the University Towers was pretty good for my first couple years. Otherwise, I have heard some other off campus dorms like Callaway House are very nice but more expensive.
pick the one closest to the library if you plan on studying a lot. you forgot to post your elementary school gpa, middle school gpa, TAKS test scores, PSAT scores, height, weight, race, blood type, likes/dislikes, hobbies, ec, work exp...
Come on, guys. Lots of people here have given up lots more personal information on this site than this kid has. Senior year of HS is one of the most exciting times of your life. Give him a break and be happy for him.
they still have dorm rooms without A/C? (I'd stay away from that.) You might want to check the 20 ugliest campuses thread
I lived off campus my entire run as a Faggie. Dorm heads are weird brainwashed mofos. Stay the hell away from that campus at all costs. Everyone I knew that stayed on campus killed themselves eventually. -wait did he just say faggie?
well if hes gonna be studying all the time like he says he will, i dont think he'll be concerned about how ugly the campus is... and if thats the case, i dont see why he just doesnt attend UH... seems like the guy is a little mad bc the "bonghorns" didnt bend over backwards like a&m did. UT has so many students its actively pushing freshmen to their satellite campuses. so one freshman really wont make too much of a difference (no matter how good their stats are); they have their choice of students... i dont think there is a line of people wanting to get into A&M like there is for UT. A&M is a good school but the demographics arent the same. congrats on the scholarship. that extra money does come in handy. enjoy your college years. they will zoom by you.
Me too. I lived in Fowler from 1991 through 1995. I had a ball. I recommend the balcony dorms because: 1. A/C 2. Only 4 guys per bathroom, as opposed to your entire floor. 3. Moderately priced. To RocketsMac....have a blast, and we'll see ya at Kyle Field.
I was turned off by the concept of a community bathroom and shower. It's bad enough if u get a weird and gross roommate to share it with, but there could be several gross people on the entire floor. Get your own bathroom or share one with sweet mates. Keep in mind, there is a cleaning staff and they take care of that stuff, but still, some people are gross. As far as male vs. co-ed. Sometimes I think back if I had stayed on a guy's floor or in a all-male dorm, how many more guy friends would I have made. I do know that I made a lot of girl friends, living at the co-ed dorm, that like I said, will be there for me forever. There are pros and cons to both. If I remember correctly, Lechner and Clements I think are the honors dorms right? I went inside both and none were crazy or weird. I mean, Lechner promotes their "nerdery" by wearing Nerd Out shirts and stuff like that. I know those guys have a lot of fun and were very involved with Bonfire when it was still on campus. I think they do the same as other students in other dorms, they play video games, hide alcohol if they are under age, try and get girls in bed, they just happen to be smarter than many of the other students on campus. If I were to go through this process again, I would pick modular as my first choice, co-ed second. Also, if u want closeness to North Gate (I know u r too young to drink legally, but u r closer to Freebirds/Subway, Papa Johns, Potato Shack etc.) and Sbisa (large dining hall), Northside is where u should choose. If u want closer to the classrooms and library, Southside is the choice. If u don't care about what side or part of campus u live, then it doesn't matter, the main thing is to get involved and not get swallowed up or intimidated. A&M is huge and I know that some people who have all their goals and priorities in check in h.s. and then they get to a place where there is fun and distractions around every corner, then they lose focus and struggle and some get kicked out. Get there, have a lot of fun, get involved, kick ass in school and as long as your scholarships keep giving and your parents will contribute some money, stay as long as u can.
lol. I actually think they accepted me because I am middle eastern (I don't even think they even have a single middle eastern guy there ) for the record, A&M is 82% white, Only 2 percent are Black, 9 percent Hispanic and 3 percent Asian American. there's this white chick at school that hates me now because we are only 2 ranks apart and she applied 3 weeks before I did, and she still hasn't gotten her acceptance yet. She was mad because they wanted the most expensive dorms and they would "run out" if she doesn't do it early, which inspired me to ask my fellow clutchians.. btw, I smell some UThugs around here:
I spent a summer painting the inside of Hart hall. . . . Talk about HELL!!!! I lived there for a semester. . it was ok . . too hot but it was like 400$ for the whole semester. . . saved alot of $$$ Rocket River
Man, that would be terrible having to paint in there with no A/C. My first roommate was a 5th year senior who was actually mad they had put in window units... he claimed he could get it colder with box fans. I think it was about a $1000 a semester when I was there.
It's pathetic how you're just begging for attention. You're just mad that you're not good enough for UT and have to settle for something else. UThugs? Bonghorns? How old are you? I'd love to see you act like this in public..you'd have friends in no time I'm thankful you're not going to UT, because if I ever knew who you were and saw you on campus, I'd probably kick your ass. To everyone else, I'm not trying to haze him or anything, as I'm probably only a year older than him, but it's just annoying how he's full of himself. "Look at me, I've got a great GPA and got a scholarship, so I'll come to the BBS and have everyone tell me congratulations." Good luck with med school, kid. I'm taking my pre-med courses now and it's no joke. Be prepared for some serious studying and hard work. If you need the BBS to make decisions for you, I'd like to see how you'll do in an unstructured environment where everything you do is up to yourself.
I live in Crocker. It kinda sucks. All male, very old, and the bonfire leaders are a bunch of douchebags. But I do know some people that enjoy it. If I were you, I'd apply very, very early for the Commons dorms or modular dorms on southside. If you're an attractive girl living on campus, you're probably in the Commons. Definitely not northside...
I lived in Crocker when I went. I wasn't that big into Bonfire (when we still had it), but I really enjoyed living there. Probably because I made a lot of friends and there was always something to do whenever you wanted. I only lived there a year, had a blast, but then got my own apartment. I couldn't have made it with community bathrooms and the tiny rooms for another year. I had my friends, had a good time, but it was time to move on. I guess I'm saying its worth the experience and you'll have fun if you get into one of the older, crummier dorms, but you'll only want to live there a year before you upgrade. I think the set up of those dorms just promoted getting out of your room and meeting people. Whenever we'd go over to other people's dorms that had the larger private rooms, it just seemed kind of dead.
