at the bottom of this page is the list of all time division 1 winning percentages since 1945. a&m is number 46.

i understand the money argument, the resource argument, the recruiting argument. it just hasn't translated over a sustained period. I don't know why. I used to argue that the had a hard time getting the best black recruits but i don't think that's it.

Yeah its technically illegal under Article 2, Section 1 of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 entitled "The Privacy Rule"

"The Privacy Rule took effect on April 14, 2003, with a one-year extension for certain "small plans." It establishes regulations for the use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI). PHI is any information about health status, provision of health care, or payment for health care that can be linked to an individual.[12] This is interpreted rather broadly and includes any part of a patient’s medical record or payment history."

Fran could be in deep for disclosing the medical conditions of players to boosters without their (his players) knowledge. Unlike when teams release medical information to the media, Franchione did so without permission.

Where is all this talent you're talking about??

I remember being at Baylor in the early to mid 90's when magazines were saying we were bringing in nationally ranked recruiting classes...that we were out recruiting virtually everyone in the state. none of it meant a damn thing.

no idea, i used to see odell every now and then but the last time was nine years ago. his cousin lived with him because he came from a bad home, i believe his dad was in prison. the first time i met odell we were all in houston, he was still in high school. he was mowing the yard. pretty refreshing to see from the number one ranked high school qb in the nation.

There are some Texas laws on universities releasing health information on their students. It took effect a few years ago and there was some stuff where teams can't realize details about players without their consent and the like. Not sure how or if it would apply in this case or not.

I remember Odell James. He was supposed to be the next great option QB. I remember really scratching my head when he picked Baylor over Nebraska.

Of course they won't - because they aren't going to list 20 or 30 programs. A&M isn't a top job in the sense of UT or OU or ND. It's in that next tier, though. And that's where you can get some very promising up & coming coaches. You're not going to get the Nick Sabans or Bob Stoops of the world - but that's not going to be A&M's goal anyway.

You can get an Urban Meyer type though from when he was at Utah. Up and coming coaches or coordinators that want to move to an competitive BCS school. Those kinds of guys don't want to go and suck at a Baylor - if they are going to move up, they want to move to a legitimate school w/ decent resources and recruiting ability, and A&M can offer that.

And on TAMU's recruiting... I know for a fact that it has been ranked in the top 25 by rivals for 5 of the past 6 years if you include the upcoming year. The big tool we have to offer is immediate playing time. Take Martellus Bennett or Michael Goodson who would have sat out a year at Miami, USC or Texas. They got immediate quality PT at TAMU. We can still recruit. Like RMJosh said, Fran simply hasn't delivered.

If you tell me that Florida State isn't a top job Ill be a little less riled up... If you think Florida State is clearly beyond TAMU's stratosphere then Ill have to stick around.

we never understood it, I remember lee corso specifically saying he was going to take over for tommie frazier. i never asked him why he chose baylor. baylor actually pulled another top recruit out of houston a couple of years earlier. some running back from either hastings or elsik. he had a muslim name.

max is right, they used to pull some top notch recruits but it never translated on the field.

What cracks me up most about AtM prestige being compared to Notre Dame is that even Notre Dame didn't get their first choice coach (Meyer) and if I remember correctly there was one more coach that turned them down.

So this idea that AtM is as prestigious as ND (not true) shows that even if it were true AtM couldn't just grab an awesome coach from thin air.

i respectfully disagree based on the fact that urban meyer turned down nd to go to fla. a&m is in neither's class. coach fran is the exact type of coach they can get. someone with good success at a lower level program. urban meyer was probably the highest touted coach looking to move that year. he was in a bcs bowl remember. he could write his own ticket

If A&M is unwilling to update their offense into the 21st Century, the biology department needs to dig up Bear Bryant, scrape some DNA, and clone him.

    Call him Wolf Bryant.
