I lived there from age 2-4, but I lived at MacDill Air Force Base, and that was almost 30 years ago, so my views would be skewed. Man I'm old.
Closed on the house in St. Petersburg Monday. Flew down Tuesday. Starting to get things set up, but still a ways from being here as our primary residence. Got WiFi, a Tempurpedic, some beer to sit in the pool with. I’m set. Now just have to sell two houses and a lot in the Twin Cities.
It's a change of pace, if you are moving from Minnesota. It's very laid-back, almost like small-town/small city, but it's a fairly big city. The weather is basically paradise. It almost never gets cold there, even when it does it's only like 50-60 degrees, when the rest of the country, except for the West coast is near frozen. No state tax. The traffic is decent, it's not unbearable, like say Atlanta, Orlando, or Miami. Crime rate is not too bad. There's alot of recreational events and activities.
Great looking house, I am sure you will love it. Just moved back to Houston from Omaha and I am so looking forward to no snow in the winter and minus -30 wind chills Good Luck and good fortunes to you and your wife!!!
My wife's cousin and husband live right down the street. He used to be a yacht captain. They used to live on the water, but now don't. I mentioned that we have a nice, empty dock. They are thinking about it.
I've been once- my wife has family there. Beaches and water are gorgeous and weather is nice. However, it's Florida, which is the center of the white trash universe AND the center of the terrible old driver universe. They take 'good luck everybody else' to a whole new level.
