I love it whenever people think they just randomly decided how to position the park in relation to the sun. There's actually a reason it, along with virtually every other ballpark, sits with this sort of configuration.
They hoping for us to not make the playoffs this season so they can build it?...no major moves etc....
I just would like to reiterate that this is a terrible idea. But you can't argue monetarily with the old axiom of "chicks dig the longball." (and cosmopolitans).
I mean, they don't have to be symmetrical or anything but I just don't like the whole schtick. The rest of the stadium is fairly elegant. That left field wall is ugly, the short LF is as weird as the deep cf/hill. The train is corny. At least they got rid of junction jack lol What are you some sort of architectural major? if you think I don't know it faces a couple buildings (and btw, anyone who envisions houstons skyline does so from basically the other side of the city) you are wrong. It's just hard to see them with burned retinas. Or is that too much for you to handle? Ffs...
So much Fail. You do know there is an MLB type rule builders/owners must obey when a new ballpark is built, where home plate should be, etc. It's not just about a great view of the city for the fans. You should Google before you throw out insults in an "argument" that might contain certain facts.

Well I didn't know that but it looks like Houston is about as far from "desired" angle as possible. Also, I'm not talking about stadium orientation. I'm talking about how the lowest wall in the park is the one that faces the sun. I did mention our seats were upper deck1b side? Sunniest part of the stadium. Brutality. Rules, skylines, orientation or not.
Are you referring to the giant glass window? You'd rather it be an opaque wall? You really are harkening for the dome days! The 1b sun is really an issue for the Saturday 3pm-6pm summer starts. Every other time, it's usually tolerable or a non issue, and fans actually get to see real buildings instead of a wall. Also, the wind patterns created by that open space help facilitate the growth of the grass (otherwise they'd face he same problem NRG has). Also, the backdrop of the LF wall will look markedly different in just about 2-3 years. Tons of projects going on over there.
Yessir that's the one, I'd rather it be seats like everywhere else in the park. And I loved the dome, symmetrical as it was the vantage points around the whole field were great. I think Minute Maid did itself a disservice trying too hard to be different and quirky, embracing an old train station. The pump is a cool place, I assume the Crawford boxes are too... Truthfully, being on top of the union station was cool even though it's a mile away. I don't like the RF stands either, feel like I need binoculars and I have pretty good eyes. The 1st/3rd base sides don't have a bad seat, I just wish the rest of the stadium was more in line with them.
Well, that's the trade off for having a retractable roof...and MMP is by far the best retractable roof stadium in baseball. I suppose you're envious of the cavernous skydome?
I guess if it was my choice it would be an outdoor stadium or the window would be towards RF. There is only one dome for me. Starting to feel like an interview haha
Would be much harder to have the requisite support struts to have a convertible/rolling roof with that sort of configuration. Most of them have it set up with the tracks along LF (Seattle, Miami). Outdoor? Have you been to a game in Arlington? Ugh. They're also building an almost replica of MMP as their new stadium. Will also have a LF window.
I've probably been to 500 games in MMP and sat just about everywhere. I've never thought or felt the sun ever being an issue. Am I missing something ?
Its a minuscule window for Saturday only games where the sun shines on the 1B side... and that's only when there are very little clouds outside. Starting to sound like the Texans fans who complained and got the NRG roof permanently shuttered.
There's some MLB rule that the fields must be set up the way it is, can't recall where I heard it, likely on CP's show but I've heard other folks mention that before.
"I'm mad too, Eddie" bumper stickers. I remember them growing up in the 70s but had no idea what they meant until I just googled it. Boy how we could use Eddie back today!
From roughly 5:30 to a little before 7, sitting along the first base line, particularly the upper deck, is like staring directly at the sun. I made that mistake a few times back in the early days. For the normal 7 games, it's not really an issue, but for the 6 o'clock games it was miserable for the first few innings. I imagine late innings of 3 o'clock starts are bad to. It's a relatively small window, but still it's extremely bad when you run into it. MMP has no bad seats otherwise, even the nosebleed seats are great. As for an outdoor park, no f**king thank you. Between our natural heat, and the body heat of 30,000-40,000 people, it sucks, to the point of being unenjoyable.
