How much more do the fans want to see T-Mac? The guy needs a change and so do the Rockets. The team should go for a big move and please no Knicks players.

If we trade T-Mac, we are basically rebuilding again. T-Mac has been a HUGE part of our offense for the past years. If you think we can trade him, and become a better team this year, you guys are joking yourselves. Basically, we'll have to go through the whole chemistry, guys getting to know each other, different plays, gelling, ect. all over again. By the time we MIGHT get it together, it's too late and we miss the playoffs.

Also, who says whatever trade we make will work? You guys don't think the T-Mac trade is working out, so who's to say the next trade will work for us? That could very well blow up in our faces much worst than this T-Mac trade. If we still want to make the playoffs, Keep T-Mac and Yao and make changes with the rest of the roster.

If by "ok" you mean me wanting to slash my wrists because this season sucks, then yes, it went ok.

    To this I say...Maybe.

Did we rebuild when we brought in Clyde Drexler?

It all depends on what players you get back.

If it is a motivational problem, then Tmac should be traded to light a fire for him again, and get some players here that WANT to be here.

Talent-wise you're right, but he is a hydrogen bomb in the locker room.

OK, I'll bite: Please explain how you would be able to trade Tmac when he's currently hurt (again), has a gimpy back, makes $20 million, is considered a soft player, is not a leader who can help you to a championship and is a guy who hasn't done squat in the playoffs for his entire career. Just how long a line of prospective trading partners are you anticipating here DaD? And while you are at it: Also explain just why a trade will "light a fire" for him and more importantly if he is traded away, why should we care if his fire is lit or not?

Let's just suppose, for second, that there are other teams that would be willing to take Shane's contract and (let's say) Luther Head's. In theory, who would be a good athletic SG/SF to trade for that could conceivably improve the team?

I think the list is kind of short. Corey Maggette comes to mind. Anyone else?

Hill - obviously you would have to wait until he is healthy to trade him

There are teams out there that would take a risk on the guy, Chicago, Charlotte, the Knicks....lots of teams that would take a roll of the dice on Tmac.

As for the light a fire comment, it seems that Tmac burns out his welcome in 4 years or so, then loses his fire....same thing happened in Orlando, sometimes getting to a new situation would be good for him and us.

I am not there yet, but I would think if you are Morey, you have to considering whether Tmac and Yao will really work...

And also it depends on whether you are trying to rebuild NOW, or for next year......it depends on Morey and Les...and what they want to do....

Magette would be great....Gerald Green in Minnesota, Sam Cassell would be good.....

I think we need some younger players who will let Yao be the leader and focal point of this team. They also need to be able to hit an outside shot. I think Memphis with guys like Gasol, Navarro, Mike Miller and a surplus of solid young point guards would be a good trade partner in a T-Mac trade.

The trade scenario is obvious: You trade Tracy away for inferior players with shorter term contracts. Hopefully at least one of the guys you get for him is a decent player. This is why expiring contracts can be so valuable. I have no idea what team, which players or whether 3rd or 4th teams will be needed, but the concept is the concept. Whether a deal that makes sense can be pulled off is anyone's guess. Such a deal will make us worse in the short term but hopefully will free up money next summer or in 2009 for us to pursue free agents.

The alternative is to keep Tracy until the summer of 2010.

Hmm, didn't consider Gerald Green. But if a young guy like that can't get minutes on one of the worst teams in the league, I'm skeptical he'd offer any kind of improvement over Shane Battier. Unless, of course, we're not looking to get better this year but rather rebuild for the future.

Cassell would be nice just to provide some sorely lacking leadership. But bringing in yet another PG while cutting down our depth at SF doesn't seem like a great idea.

Any chance we can trade for Cassell and Maggette at once? That's probably the best we can hope for. It wouldn't help the defense any, obviously, but it should improve the offense. Then again, we all thought the addition of Francis and James and Wells and Scola would improve the offense as well ...

Whatever happens, I don't think the Rockets will trade away McGrady, because such a deal is bound to make them much worse. In the long run, sure it might be best for the team, but everyone wants to win now.

Sam Cassell as much as I love the guy's attitude is an injury waiting to happen. He's older so it will take longer for those injuries to heal. I can't see where trading two younger players for Sam is worthwhile.

Gerald Green is a good prospect, but I don't trade two proven players for one semi-unproven one. Yes he's young, almost too young. Dude is what.. 20?

Just because they have ties to Houston doesn't mean they are the answer.
