This comment is complete crap. You wouldn't fight in this war because you're a coward. You're the first to comment on the rising deaths, which is maybe 1% of the troops. Instead of saying, "wow, our death statistics are rather low for a 'war'", you complain they are too high. This shows that you'd only favor a war in which the casualties are 0. What are you going to say when there is another world war (and i mean a war in which america is being attacked) and the casuality rate hits in the 30-40 percentile ranges?? A vast majority of WWII bombings were aimed at leveling cities intending on terrorizing the civilians ... on BOTH sides. I think the war casuality rate on both sides are considerably fair compared to the barbaric practices of previous wars/civilizations. Cartmen has a name for your type ... Tree hugging cowards.

    Calm down for a second.

Ok he doesnt want to fight and he says that he wouldnt fight even if they paid him money.

Although I think there are several inaccurate points in your post. First, you cant compare world war II death statistics to Iraq. In the Civil War, entire armies were wiped out. In Somalia, we lost dozens of troops at a time at most and opponents of the effort argued that we were losing too many. That's the nature of how we think about war today. People today are less accepting of death and have a higher expectation for how our military performs and the amount of death that occurs. Having over 2000 soldiers killed was way way more than anyone expected so yes it is a big shock.

Second if there is a war in which the US is actually drawn in, then our tolerance for casualties goes up. People are less tolerant in this case because we started the conflict. The burden now falls on our government to justify this rather than simply saying that we were pushed into the conflict. So your future war scenario in which we have 30% casualties would be ok assuming we were attacked. Now if we invade Iran and have 40% of our soldiers die then yes I'll be mad and I would hope that you wouldnt be very happy as well.

Third, please dont justify the status quo by comparing it to barbaric practices of the past. Fine we're not outright slaughtering civilians like in the Middle Ages. But our standard should not be to compare ourselves to the past and say at least we're not that bad but rather hold ourselves to a standard that embraces the ideas of what America is about. We entered this war with assurances from the military that a) it would be quick b) it would be painless for both us and the Iraqi people. The development of weapons like precision guided munitions as well as better combat training was supposed to make civilian death a thing of the past. I do agree that civilian deaths probably are an inevitability in any war but dont simply brush it off by saying well at least we're not as bad as the Romans.
