    Yes, and it sucks.

I'll be thankful when it stops.

    It most certainly does. Yes.

    So will I.

I am particularly hopeful that it stops before I get there... :)

We didn't start this one, Jeff. But we'd better not be squeamish about finishing it.

I agree on both points Jeff.

treeman, there is something in the tone of your posts in this thread that irritates me. It might be deserved or whatever, but still...

Well, anyway, that's how you feel.

Well, let me just tune down my Internator-tonerator-maker a bit, Det...

    Better?

J/K. I speak the truth as I see it. If that pisses someone else off... I apologize. I also apologize ahead of time for my abrasive style. But I cannot tell a lie.

I agree. It truly amazes me that I put a pic of a child sucking his thumb with a dog nearby and people complain and the pic is removed. But here pics are shown where you can see individual people being blown up and killed, and people appluad. Yes I know these people are our enemies. Yes I know that people die in war. Hell, I even agree that images like this are important and shouldn't be kept from the public.

But anyone who doesn't feel the slightest bit of remorse when viewing these images, anyone who only feels gungho and gets visceral thrills of pleasure from watching people die, anyone who reacts like that scares me just a little bit.

I agree. I don't think it's ever cool to glorify or laugh at someone's death. But, I don't feel sorry for these guys just like I wouldn't feel sorry for a Nazi general. These guys (taliban/al queda) would murder you or I (especially if we're unarmed and going about our business) if we were walking down the street.

What scares me is that a "pic of a child sucking his thumb with a dog nearby" could be considered art.

I guess it's less offensive than a 2,000 lb bomb dropped on a APC-load of enemies, though... Although I personally don't find it offensive. 'Gratifying' would be the word, since these slimebags attacked my country and killed thousands of its citizens.

I guess I really just don't get "modern art". So I won't comment on it, beyond what I've already farted out...

I will die to protect other Americans. You can keep your "art". I wouldn't give an ounce of piss to protect that.

    No offense, of course.

Whoa, take some reading lessons man. I never said this was an art. It was a parody of the caption game contest and it was meant solely as a joke. So keep your piss, man, I wasn't asking for it.

They felt no remorse for killing our unarmed civilians. I feel no remorse for them. War is hell, and it is too bad that things have to be this way, but they got what they deserved.

    Better them than us.

Even though dylan stated it was not art, I just wanted to point out that it would not be "modern art" anyway. Modernity ended some time ago. What you "don't get" (most likely) is contemporary art.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid...

    režmorse

NOUN: 1. Moral anguish arising from repentance for past misdeeds; bitter regret.

I don't see any misdeed in these pictures, so I'm not sure where you are coming from, dylan. Maybe you meant something else. These people played their hand and came up aces and eights. I don't feel the slightest bit of guilt and can't imagine why anyone else should either.

I don't know why I hadn't looked at this thread before, those pictures are awesome!

I do feel a sadness about their dying because on an individual level someone loved them and perhaps they loved somebody-- NOT MATTER HOW PERSONALLY EVIL THEY WERE!

The saddest moment for me in this war, was watching them dig a beautiful 2-3 year-old child out of the rubble somewhere in Afghanistan. I've never hated war as much as I did viewing that video clip. I have 3 daughters and I cannot fathom the anguish and anger that such events bring.

Whether we killed her or they killed her themselves is immaterial to the sadness it brought me.

Whether we killed her or they killed her themselves is a tragedy of war, but the war must go on.

Hooray to the U.S. for the way in which they have conducted this war.

Was any attempt to apprehend or stop these guys made---or did America just massacre them from the shadows?

There are those who feel that revenge is a good thing.

There are those who feel the fact that revenge is necessary is bad and that glorifying it no matter how justified it is is only perpetuating unnecessary killing.

Do I feel good that the Taliban/al Qaida have been or are in the process of being defeated? Of course. Do I feel the necessity to exclaim joy over people dying? No.

I originally thought bin Laden's death would be awesome, but when I look at the "big picture", I don't believe we necessarily win anything. I'm starting to side with Jeff's viewpoint. A human's death is tragic and shouldn't be something we glorify.

I'm sure there were people cheering overseas when they saw those unfortunate people having to jump from the WTC as it burned and collapsed.

Just ask the Palestinians or the Israelis... they exact revenge on a daily basis... all it ends up being is more killing day after day and they party over the killings -- but hey, they get revenge, right?

As this war on terrorism grows longer, I still hope we erradicate the fools that caused the hell in NYC. But as the war on terrorism continues, I have to ask the question is America being drawn into a never-ending war in which our citizens really don't understand its ramifications...

"War is Hell" was said by General William Tecumseh Sherman.

This is the dumbest comment I've seen made about the war so far. Are we supposed to land in front of them and yell 'FREEZE POLICE' ??? If you're in a war, and you're an armed combatant, you're fair game.

That was exactly what I was thinking, HayesStreet. Dumbest post ever on the war topics...
