That's a hard question. Based on JVG's Yao-TMac teams, the first thing that comes to mind is a very heavy ISO-ball player with defensive Andre Robersons all around him. He would be something like Westbrook on the current Oklahoma City Thunder. I'm guessing 34 ppg, 10 apg, and 4 rpg with a 41-41 record.
A,B, and C are the same thing. Harden is the best Rocket since Hakeem, without a doubt. But he centers his game around two incredibly inconsistent variables: 3pt shooting and getting calls. His most consistent attributes are his playmaking and his ability to finish, but those are nullified if opponents shut down the lane. HIs defense is still suspect, yes he doesn't outright give up and get lost anymore, but this dude let Danny Green blow by him many times 1v1, which put way too much pressure on our team defense. He's a very hate-able player as a result. Harden needs to add more to his game. Bring back the mid-range, iso post up on smaller guys. As of yet if you shut down the lane all Harden has left to rely on is the dribble dribble step back three.
The statement was that Harden is the best Rocket *since* Olajuwon. I'm not attempting to compare him to players from a distant era like Elvin Hayes or Moses Malone. What is indisputable is that regardless of stats, Harden has already won more playoff games and series already than any player *since* Olajuwon. If his stats are better AND he has won more, I think that is sufficient to say his is 'indisputably better' than McGrady and Yao. I'm not saying you have to like him better, but in terms of measurable, tangible results, he has been better. As far as 'system-inflated' stats, what 'system' were JB and McHale running exactly? Harden's stats have been consistently exceptional in Houston for all three coaches. Hard to argue he is only successful because of a system.
Combination of B and C for me. He's a great player, but he has some a mental issue for sure and it really makes me dislike him sometimes. Due to whatever issue he has (no reason to speculate) we definitely need some help to contend.
Hakeem would laugh at these big men today! No way they guard Dream34 & he'd be the best offensive/defensive big in the NBA by a mile.
He would be bummed out, pissed off and miserable... forced to be play D and held accountable rather than coddled? He would be miserable... and looking to get to Laker land asap...
