If we cared about not allowing you to post while high, we'd give you a test, too. :p

Even if/when pot is legalized companies will still administer drug test tests for it. Again working in construction they test for alcohol in an employees system for the same reason that they don't want to have a fatality on site as a result of inebriation from any drug.

Now alcohol can leave your system in as little as an hour after a single drink whereas a pot smoker can be responsible and not smoke just before or during work and still have it in their system well after their last use and still be sober. It's not fair. But its understandable that an employer wouldn't want to hire a higher risk employee that could cost them more than a lesser risk employee.

Sure it is. If someone is a law breaker, it is definitely in the employer's best interest to know. There are liability issues. There are trust issues.

Truthfully I don't think a lot of companies care if they have a pothead that games the system. They administer drug tests because it lowers their insurance costs testing for it. With a job where your employees are in harms way they may want a drug free employee but for an office job? They just want someone that can pass the pre-employment process and do their job well.

They don't drug test you if you are being hired as a teacher. I have seen quite a few teachers come back from lunch wasted.

What school is this? Have you done your homework from yesterday, though? You're not going to get recess, man. Be careful.

They obviously don't check for pedophiles either. I have seen in the news that quite a few teachers sleep with their students.

This is the worst advice I have ever heard. It does indeed stay in your system at least 30 days, even more if you are over weight. That is if you were smoking with any kind of regularity.

I think you're probably right, but where do you get your information from?

just say you were visiting Colorado today....

on a serious note, I would just come clean about it to the person that interviewed you. Let him/her make the decision. It will help clear your conscience and you may [surprisingly] gain trust from your employer... that is, if they still hire you. My best guess is that they allow you to retest a month later.

Good luck homie. I quit smoking weed for the job I have now 3 years ago. I know I can since I've only been tested one in that time, but I don't risk it. I sure miss that dro though my man.

Depending on how heavy the regularity is and the weight/metabolism of the person it can be out of your system within a couple of weeks. I believe it's fairly rare that it would be in someone's system longer than 30 days.
