I find it very compelling. It's highly fictionalized; I expected something more reality-based.

The central figure in the early episodes is kind of off-the-charts. He klls people to keep the project funded. He even murders his own wife and one of his subordinate officers then frames them as lovers as part of a coverup. He's your token military psycho. It can get a little soap opera sidetracked.

I plan on hanging in there for the full 20 hours though.

Damn, the episode 4 Acid Test was pretty cool. I'm gonna try to catch them all from now on. The episode 5 looks pretty awesome too.

Yea, I've watched every bit of it (how could you not when they replay it 3 times a day...) and I think this is definitely a keeper. The acid test episode was really good and the thing I like about it is that it takes you on several interesting roads...(I think giddyup can attest to that)...Catch it now or later on a disc set, but Spielberg and co. did a very well made mini-series thus far!

p.s. ...I really hoped many of you guys had caught it from the beginning because of the way each episode is strongly derived from the previous...

the message the movie is trying to send is very disturbing. that is of course if one believes the thousands and thousands of abduction stories are for real.

heres a line from the movie that tripped me out: "all our fears, all our memories play at once"... very interesting.

I think it is Jesse's daughter. They've dropped a few hints-- vague ones.

Remember the part when the asian archeaology teacher was explaining to his students that the mythological term TRICKSTER means one who offers wisdom and knowledge of the universe but is really full of deception. or something like that. I thought that was interesting because i always thought that if the abductions are true then the goverment definitely knows about them but more than that they allow them to happen in exchange for technological information or seemingly powerful wisdom. Aliens=Tricksters: offer wisdom and powerful knowledge to the goverment for them to keep quite about the abductions. But heres where the deception lies: the abductions are really the begining of a much greater sinsister plan or end game.

I finally caught up with most of the first three episodes and wow, this series is terrific. I can't wait for the rest this week. Is the Crawford character influenced by a real person involved with Roswell? What a b*stard they've made him out to be.

To my recollection the only "real" character that I know of in the whole thing is the token appearance of the ranch hand Mack Brazle who first reported the crash. He's given one line and then removed from the story line completely-- a token reality!

Last night's episode kicked butt. I don't understand how that little girl is so much more powerful than the actual aliens. She cured a gun shot, warped time, and beamed people up but that one Alien couldn't even escape his holding cell in the first few episodes.

Ha! I guess we're in full fiction mode now with shooting down an alien ship. When the kid's parents are coming over that mountain was so Close Counters of the Third Kind.

A pretty disappointing ending IMHO. The last two episodes were pretty pointless. A great series overall though, very interesting.
