That franchise looks worse than it did at the beginning of the season. I do not see them ever winning a championship with Embiid as their best player.

Ah. Sorry for the flippant reply.

Tad said the same thing Morey said almost to a T. Another reason why it was such an eye roller.

Tad Brown sick of getting bonuses paid in Joe’s Crab Shack GCs and tours at Kemah Boardwalk.

So he went to a team whose owner is wealthy and liquid. Josh Harris is a PE guy, and has real money.

LMAO exactly, not sure how this can have so many Tilman bad loonies celebrating and regretting Tad Brown leaving.. Its almost as if Keith Jones left and people started blaming Tilman... Who cares, doubt Tilman is going.. "Damn it, he signed with who? Call him!!! I'll pay him double!!! I'm sorry"...

They had to watch as a new owner came in, and slowly demanded they take apart the assets they collected. Remember 2018, one game from the finals and we had bird rights to every player, we can retain them but in nba economics we can sign and trade or use the contracts as assets when at the cap. We had TPE over 10 million, we had the MLE, we had a fair amount of draft picks to also use to make moves to take advantage of this window. We used or ignored it all. Signed minimums who we kept after we cut due to the tax, even so much traded rotation players in mda like ennis as a mid season salaray tax dump and then cutting daniel house for 2 months...find another competing title team doing that and the nba is only getting more and more expensive.

Harden has the culmination of his career/life work in a prime that has a few short years left and along with the above guys saw their work being waisted. Its no doubt Chris Paul whose now in the finals has gone on record and pointed to Ariza as the biggest piece of the glue of the team, the ex factor. So its more than stats you ahve to replace bc basketballis fluid and cohesion and chemistry matter.

I don't blame them. ITs a dream job and we'ld all keep our mouth shut and ust try to do it within the confines but when you're good enough just like any 1A stars, they have options and then to watch a guy who goes on the record and blames his basketball ops, or says his players need to learn a fighter culture from him, or les about the coaches contracts to the public, try to find how many owners do this kind of stuff, its an embarassment of the league and for all those who love to just say harden was a baby who wanted out, if Lebron james was here...he would've left or demanded a trade, likewise with Anthony davis as he did and rich paul explained:

    • "'I educated [Davis] on why I thought the team wouldn't be . . . ' He paused. 'All athletes are competitive and confident, until reality sets in. And I educated him on things.'"
    • Paul laid out what superstars need to see from teams to give a long-term commitment.
    • "You either need your team in place, or you need flexibility, assets, money, and the ability to make decisions. And, more important, the willingness to pay the [luxury] tax ... This ain't 'Moneyball.'"
    • Paul was referring to a team either being ready to compete, having future flexibility to improve the team, and being willing to pay the so-called luxury tax for spending over the salary cap. According to Chotiner, the Pelicans were not willing to pay it at the time and thus kept their payroll below a certain level.

Thats the new player nba mentality. So yea we'd lose almost any star with the way we did things or top notch coach or gm. I like stone and silas, they can still be great, but before chris wallace, for better or worse, we had almost entirely all new rookies coaching a young team. We go the 2 pick, star can come n, we can do great things with our other picks and young exciting talent on the team. Sarver used to trade picks like Rondo to save money, he spent big last year and at a huge risk bc chris paul was guaranteeing any finals(yes tilman, you can't guarantee a finals) and here they are. So in that hope, hopefully tilman getting boo'd in houston last month gave him the epiphany to shut up and lsten, he can even write a book about it. Otherwise that 2 pick could be a superstar, and after the first extenson so 7 years just like harden, just like lebron will be out and not waste his career generating profit while making his job harder and being insulted in the media(Rockets leaked crazy harden stuff, tilman would leak that he believed chris paul's contract to be the worst in business or sports(chris paul may get a raise two years later), Tilman lied about MDa's contract(https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...amn-turmoil-unsettling-vibe-surrounds-rockets

nah stone is a rookie gm, tilman gave him his chance. So basically he will work and if he does well and knows he can get better offers from a guy who isn't a cheap liar and force him to make moves detrimental to the team, lie about it to the public, take the hit...then he'll leave.

You think any 1A star is choosing houston under tilman? Go read Rich pauls quote, he won't let any one he has come to a team like houston so long as they have other options.
People can call Harden weak, but Lebron, Kobe, Mj all would'v either demanded out or demanded help. Anyone with clout and options like morey and brown leave money on the table to work in a different culture. This is the pinnacle of sports competition, the nba is about winning and its a billionaire boys club with more money than ever. People are not coming here to jump loops to save some guy money, the 90s/00 economics don't work anymore and with the tv deal it will get only more expensive. For houston this is terrible knowing we have the most leveraged owner who will also confuse and lie to their own fans at the helm. We are in good shape with our players and future, tilman can't ruin it for about 3-5 years when we haveto start paying up again

Make no mistake, Morey and Tad wanted out. They both were loyal and with the organization for a long time and wanted out after ownership changed. Also I believe that Morey worked out a buyout with Tilman.

We can laugh about them getting double payed, but everything I have heard is neither really wanted to leave Houston where they had deep family roots. They left because of issues with their employment. Whatever, we will see what happens.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the former GM really wasn't fond of a 22-23 year old following him around and then reporting back to his father what his opinions of the GM were. I also know that TF not being decisive cost the Rockets a trade with Memphis at the deadline that would have helped us quite a bit.

This is the Houston Rockets, this is the Fertitta Rockets.... lets just hope Tilman learned his lesson and Patrick proves astute at his job. There are some in the front office that like Patrick and think he can be good at what he is being asked to do.
