So we can distill that you're upset that Ariza wasn't re-signed. Perhaps he should have been, but he wasn't going to be a difference maker in 2019.

I'm not suggesting Fertitta doesn't deserve any blame -- again he gambled and it's easy to judge his decisions with hindsight. But Harden, Paul, D'Antoni and Morey all deserve credit and blame for their shortcomings.

In a vacuum we all know they were paper champs in 2018. 2019 Paul stunk. No one can deny that -- he had negative value. Obviously trading for Westbrook was at best questionable when it happened, and not great with hindsight, but at the time it was generally seen that Westbrook brought a greater chance at winning than Paul. It was meant to appease Harden and keep the window open, no matter what happened in the future.

Would be fitting since the current GM is a puppet

You should be a comedy writer with all that wit. Wasting your talents on this message board.

I guess enjoy the bitterness in life.

You're trying to compare an era of when the franchise was competing for a title -- by mortgaging its future -- with a new rebuild era, then proclaiming the rebuild era a failure.

Come on, have some rational thoughts once in a while. If you can't see the difference between contention then a rapid pivot to rebuilding as distinct, then we're discussing apples and oranges.

Giving ownership a couple of years to see how the rebuild goes is perfectly reasonable at this point. Again: what other options are there other than to b****, moan and be bitter?

This post doesn’t make sense. So rational thought is to just ignore everything to this point and start over. How utterly stupid is that. So we’re supposed to Ignore how this franchise was destroyed in a span of 3 years. just dumb. Many of us didn’t need to wait. We saw this coming when he took over and have been posting about it since. But the bootlickers still try to move the goal posts and laughably try to defend him

A Preacher /character coach/ assistant gm needed. Send in your applications. He must do all 3 and must have some expertise in nutrition, mostly protein shakes

If you are still giving them your heart, that's your bad. How many times must they show you?

    Give yourselves a break.

Maybe new CEO will emphasize cyber security, so Org's information isn't going to get hacked again.

The Rockets went from having the best to having the worst record in NBA in 3 f-ing years. The question I have for you is why are you cutting Tilman any slack for this?

LOL Who defends Tilman? He's not the reason for Harden leaving. He was leaving anyway. Nobody is saying he is not cheap. Wasting money on a player who is leaving anyway is normal practice? Wish the best for Tad. Lets get some fresh blood in here.

You know what else got old?
Oct - Dec: We're championship contenders

June (with the same roster): Harden doesnt have any help. These guys are bums.

    August: Run it back

    Rinse and repeat.

But he does have a point that CP3 was awful in 2019. Sure, hindsight is 20/20 and he's been good the past 2 seasons. But the Rockets had no way of knowing at the time. And even if they did have a crystal ball, would he have remained here given how toxic his relationship with Harden had become? The Westbrook trade was a bad gamble and it blew up in their faces. And trading Capela to go all in on small ball was even dumber. But maybe this collapse was inevitable once Harden and CP3 could no longer co-exist.

Also, as bad as Tilman has been thus far, Les wasn't exactly a great owner either after buying the Rockets. He inherited a title team(as Tilman nearly did save for CP3's hamstring). Now I'll give him credit for the ballsy Drexler trade as that resulted in another championship. But after they came up way short trying to three-peat, Les mortgaged everything for one more shot at a title with Barkley(a trade I still defend to this day, BTW). After that, the team was old, had very few assets, and once the Quitten experiment ended in disaster, the Rockets wound up with 2 first round exits followed by 4 straight lottery seasons. In total, they had a 17 year stretch after the 1997 WCF where they reached the second round only once and missed the playoffs altogether 8 times.

If there's one area Tilman is exceeding Les in, it's his willingness(granted in part out of necessity given the CP3 trade to OKC) to tank. Les was never willing to do that, hence all the first round exits or 40-something win lottery seasons where we had the 14th pick. Yes, it's gonna hurt sucking for 3-4 years(although this one's already mercifully coming to an end). But if they draft well, don't suffer any bad injuries, and use the enormous cap space coming their way once Wall's off the books to surround their future young talented core with a solid supporting cast, they could contend for a very long time coming out of this painful but necessary rebuilding phase.

(Now of course, the big looming question even if this happens is "Will Tilman be willing to spend money to keep that core together?". But we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.)

They were only true contenders in 17-18. Which was 100% true. His very first summer after that where he was allowed to operate started with a complete disaster. And it’s been complete downhill since. Every year they got worse and worse which was crystal clear to plenty. That too is also on the history of this board. So yeah that is nothing more than the same delusional same casuals that have no idea what they’re talking about just like the dumbass owner

Not really. 2019 Cp3 has been dramatically taken for granted. Mostly by the idiots that have no idea what they’re talking about. Nothing but being short sighted and the same thought process of the dumbass that has no business being an owner. Which is exactly why they’re in the position they are in today. A dumpster. Anyone with a semblance of a good bball iq knew cp3’s game ages perfectly fine. Oh and what do you know. He’s made the all star team twice now and is on his way to another all nba appearance. All while leading another young team to the playoffs and one of the better records in the league.

The rockets flat out suck and are the worst team in the league. Some of you can hang onto this “tank” cause you’re too afraid to admit how sorry they are. And want to use the G rated version of what it is. But make no mistake about it. They try to win a ton of games. They just can’t bc they’re that horrible
