It happened right as I was about to leave. Waiting on Uber and was inside playing Mario Kart. There wasn't really a panic or anything inside. I figure only the people outside heard it well. We heard a pop then when we were outside to get in our ride there was cops everywhere. Didn't even know there was a driveby at the time.
Interesting. I've usually liked going to Kung Fu but honestly it's been a while since I've been to any bars on Washington. This will probably keep me away (not that Midtown or Downtown are any safer).
I prefer to throw $20s at the door man and tell him to dance. Anyways. I went to the bar scene over by the Dynamo stadium before Friday's Rockets game, **** was fun. Screw midtown and Washington (also being in a relationship makes me enjoy tamer bars now).
Welcome to Houston, it comes with the territory. If you feel unsafe, may I suggest going to: The stereotypes are true about Texas it's just like: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gWNn0QN03l0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_EOctfH_NA0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q-ptpERFVeY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Can I ask, are you guys really that surprised??? How long have you been a Texan??? IT COMES WITH THE TERRITORY!!!!
Washington has been fazing out the bar scene slowly but surely. Thankfully it's not even close to what is was even 3 years ago. I'd love it if they all closed down for some good restaurants.
Didn't they move Coppa out of there? Pretty soon it'll only be Walter's, Darkhorse, Wabash and penny stock homes again.
Coppa is becoming another restaurant. More bars have turned into restaurants over the last few years (even though this one was a restaurant changing hands).
Nope, Wabash, Scottish Inn, a bread factory and nothing else by 2017. Once a Carcosa, always a Carcosa. I'm just kidding, man. The bars are an eyesore out there.
Yup. They're about to open ANOTHER TexMex place there, right across the street from El Tiempo. Awesome idea. I also dig Wabash, step off. I like paying $70 for a rake.
I'll take my chances getting hit by bullets on Wahington than getting hit by drunk drivers in midtown
Washington is so oldish. The scene has shifted to midtown and downtown. In fact, its been a while since I've been to Kung fu or Hughes Hanger - probably at least 3 months. I did go to Galway and Taps a month or so back though. Besides the occassional stop, I'm staying away from Washington. Even the Benjy's at Rice village is better.
Their now explicit dress code has this peach - Clothing or items that promote discrimination or intolerance of any group based on race, religion or sexual orientation (are prohibited)
Houston bars at it again....this time it is Gaslamp. I personally have also been asked for a "cover charge" from this place....turned around and left. Plenty of other places I can waste my money at. http://www.houstonpress.com/restaurants/midtown-nightclub-accused-of-discriminatory-practices-7762250
