Yes Curry shoots like his dad but is a much better ballhandler and creator. He has one of the purest jumpshots I've seen. He would make teams pay for doubling off of YAO. I coud see the Rox trying to pick up Minnys #18
the wolves want rubio. if he falls to #5 then they will take him and possibly ship the #6 for immediate help. there's a good chance that rubio does slip to #5 since he's fallen out of favor with the kings, and westbrook has said he does not want to be a 2. i doubt the rockets have anything that the wolves would want for #6. landry? they already have love and jefferson. i think there is a better chance at buying the 28th pick.
Cook's option is a $3.5 million expiring deal. Combine that with Landry's $3 million and we could potentially take back a contract of over $8 million/year.
horrible trade for MIN. they get a lot of bad frontcourt players, give up their 2010 capspace, and lose both miller and foye. even though both of those guys weren't going to do anything special in MIN, i don't see them doing anything special in WAS either. i guess kahn is trying to retool. outside of Jefferson, Love, and Brewer, they have no quality.
actually, this trade doesn't really affect their 2010 cap space since they will still have enough room to offer a max contract. of course, minnesota is not a hot target for big time free agents, so cap space isn't really worth much to them. foye and miller are nice players but not stars. if one of the wolves picks turns out to be a star, or if they are able to package some picks for a money maker and probable star in rubio then they come out in better shape than before.
Foye and Miller doesn't make them elite and both are expiring contracts. Foye will be overpaid as a free agent next season. Miller would probably want a longer term contract than they'd like to give. 2010 cap space is meaningless for Minnesota. Who are the elite free agents who would sign there?
Well if Minny moves up to the two spot to draft Rubio, the Kings pick might suddenly become available. I think they really want him and are banking on Memphis passing him over due to the his complex buyout and refusal to play there.
Woe we actually agree! I think that is what Minny intends to do! So now Memphis has a 5 & 6 and wants to dump salary and what better way than to send Jaric and Milicic along with the 6th for Tmac, and 3 Mil. Perhaps they can do better but not so bad for a money strapped team. They give away 15 mil in Salary and take back 23 but they probably only pay 15 of Tmacs 23 mil and get 3 Mil free. They also save on the guaranteed salary of the 6th pick and get a ex Superstar that might actually bring a few fans in the stands. As for the Rockets, Milicic may actually become a serviceable backup for a few minutes a game. Plus we get a 8 million trade exception, 7 mil expiring that can deliver us another player latter and we actually lower or team salaries low enough so we can take on the rookie and Artest's contract if it is reasonable. It will be. (The only team with money for Artest that might want him is Portland and they would take Hinrich and Hedo before him). And we get that 6th pick which could land us curry or something else of fututre value. We make out like bandits in this deal especially considering we have a an expiring and/or a trade exception to take on more salary. Of course I do not know what I am talking about. Espescially since it looks like Minny will keep its picks.
The only player in the draft worth trading for is Harden. His all-around game and freakish wingspan will mesh well with Yao. Someone who can feed the post and create shots for himself and others. Rubio is exciting but does the Rockets have the personel which fits his uptempo game? Keep Brooks and buy a mid-low first round pick, if we can't get Harden.
Minnesota will NOT trade both #5 and #6 just to move up a few spots. More likely, they will package #5 with #18 and perhaps another lower pick or other asset to move up to either #2 or #3. David Kahn has made it abundantly clear that the Wolves would rather have two high lottery picks than have only the #2 pick.
agreed for two reasons. 1, we move tmac and get a high pick. and 2, if we get marko jaric, adriana lima comes with him . i wouldnt mind seein her at a game or two.
last i heard, minnesota was interested in trading their #5 and #18 pick for #3 pick with okc. memphis has been hinting for awhile they probably wont take rubio, okc has been hinting that they probably will, having hired a spanish law firm to deal with the legal buyout matters. if okc and minnesota do the above mentioned draft trades: okc can draft a solid shooting guard(prob harden) and maybe bj mullens at 18 so they can pick up a solid center. covers both their needs. minnesota can then draft rubio and maybe tyreke evans or someone else to complete their backcourt of the future
