OMG! It's practically a done deal! I mean, he watched T-Mac warming up and everything!!! Why isn't the mainstream media reporting this? Somebody get a hold of Glenn Beck!
1) If they wait until he's a FA, they have to give up a good chunk of that cap space. Not $23 million, but maybe $10 million. 2) If they trade for him now, they can unload $23 million, more or less, of cap hit. What they send us will surely be players/contracts they want less than they want T-Mac. 3) Trading for him now can get them even more cap space when he comes off the books. If they really want to have him on the team in 2010, it would still be better to give him a tryout now; if he doesn't work out, they can just let his contract expire.
I doubt the deal would involve Al Jeff.. I think it would be about Rubio. Because Khan is now trying to "get rid" of him because he knows it won't work out. So McGrady would be great. They could resign him or just let him go. We would probably have to give up a bit more and probably take on a few bad contracts though..
Except we don't have a time machine. We've seen what Chase can do and his potential. We would have to wait two years to maybe get Rubio. We give up a 1st round pick (I'd like to actually use a 1st round pick sometime!). We would be trading 2 roster spots for 4 roster spots. How's that going to work? It can't in a straight up deal. And the expirings we'd be getting are pretty freakin' awful for this season, even if we had room for them all. Nope, I'll pass. Don't misunderstand me. I'd love to get the rights to Rubio, but not like this.
1st round pick. Thats all I wanted from them. Big Al is good, but his another one with a huge contract that came along with his injuries.
Again, I'm not on board for doing this deal - just pointing out this is more along the lines of what Minnesota would accept. It can be a straight up deal - currently we have 1 extra roster spot, and in my initial post I said that we would waive Dorsey in that scenario. McGrady is most valuable to a team who can unload bad contracts back to us to give them cap relief. Minnesota is not a team like that, as they literally have NO bad contracts. I just don't see anyway a McGrady to Minnesota trade makes sense - they have no use for him besides a half-season of potential bump in ticket sales. As someone said before, they have Love/Jefferson at the 4 spot, with Jefferson playing 5 for them. With another small PG in Flynn and recently acquired backup Sessions, I don't see Brooks or Landry, both who would come off the bench, being worth it to them to lose Rubio for.

Only if Jefferson is going to be part of the deal Since he isn't........PASS Besides, the Wolves GM was more than likely looking ahead to the offseason.
Awww Deck, can't you just find another team? Replicants aren't that easy to come by you know. Anyway, if you shoot yourself you've done a man's job, sir. Since Al seems to be out of the question and Rubio won't be available for a couple of years, any deal that's I've seen posted just doesn't seem beneficial to the Rockets. Pass on Minny. (unless Kahn get seriously desperate)
I'm sure he did watch McGrady's warmups with interest. What team executive wouldn't, whether or not they were interested in pursuing him. A team executive closely watching a superstar's warmups as he returns from that kind of injury means nothing.
JEFFERSON, AL [jef-err-sun, ahl] proper noun 1. a 6-10, 265lb PF/C able to put up mediocre numbers for a lousy team with no other big man. 2. see Taylor, Maurice
I'm sorry, I just don't see any players on the T-Wolves roster that would make the Rockets a better team. I think giving any T-Wolf minutes on our team would make us worse. Just like New York, they have nothing that we need. They're a team of spare parts that wound up there for a reason.
ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL No. Al Jefferson at our house against Yao last year 36/22/4/4/2 He opened the game like 12 of 12 or something ridiculous
