Do you HAVE to get a data plan when you get a smartphone... I figure'd my next phone will be one, but I'd rather just use it for wifi right now and not have to pay the extra 20 bucks a month for unlimited data, until I really feel the need to upgrade to that service. Maybe if I go to a third party vendor to get the phone?
most smart phones does not require you get a data plan, though some do if you sign a contract and get the phone for cheap
Yesterday i spoke to a TM person and they told me as long as I have a data plan with the N1 then it should be fine and i can keep it on my family plan without having to do the whole 80 dollar plan. today i speak with them and they tell me I need a 80 dollar plan for 4 months if i get it at the subsidized price and that they dont require it but if google finds out that you changed your plan then they'll charge you for the rest of the price? wtf? they told me that they dont know how google would find out but just if they do they'll charge me the rest of the price of the phone.. sounds so unorganized, Tmobile and Google is really dropping the ball
now what im forced to do is get a blackberry bold 9700 off amazon for 50 bucks http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Bold-9700-Phone-T-Mobile/dp/B002VWJZ42 then sell it on ebay for 450'ish then use that 400 bucks on a unlocked N1 and it actually comes out cheaper... not that bad.
Quick question folks before I get the TouchPro2, will I be able to download applications for free on the phone even if its not Android similar to the I phone? Need answers fast, thanks!
Yeah it runs Windows Mobile and has apps, but some of them are kinda dated compared to Android or iPhone apps though. It's also a resistive touchscreen instead of capacitive; so it won't be as finger friendly but it will work with a stylus.
Ok, thanks man. I'm kind of frustrated that the phone isn't Android but I really like the phone overall.
For the HTC Touch pro 2, it runs window mobile 6.1, i have a couple of questions. Is there anyway I can switch my phone to be Android??? And is there anyway I can update Windows mobile to be 6.5 version?
No on Android. Yes on 6.5. That said, I would wait on the HD2 (winmo) or get the Nexus One. Much better specs.
I don't regret buying it at all, it's a great phone and with the multi-touch update that was just released it's even better, if you get it let me know and I'll hook you up with Nemo Player which is Acer's music replacement app for Android (Acer Liquid). Never tryed it but everyone loves it. Sorry for posting 3 days later haha
6.5 is already out... XDA Developers is working on Android but it wont be anything but Beta for a while...
