It's not always about kicking out to the 3pt shooter. That's old Rudy ball. A good passer can create easy scoring by cutting and dishing; using interior passing. McGrady has the height, length and speed to make these passes. Plus, the two-man game of Yao/McGrady and McGrady/Yao will create these passing opportunities. Again, we're not talking about Yao taking 3 pointers. And I don't have to go into TMac's 5.5 assist with his Orlando team. Some have already brought that up.
With dignity, I stomp my feet, I demand to know: What stuff is Johonny Davis on? It seems so potent !
McGrady is the type of player who do whatever he wants. Why? because he is a unique player at his position. he's always been a good decision maker and ball handler. He can get a good shot off on anyone, anytime he wants. Having Ming will make his job so much easier as will other players feeding off him and Ming. I remember Grant hill avg 20 pts 9rebs and like 6 or 7 asst on a pistons team that had really no one. McGrady can do the same thing if he wanted to.
Excellent! But, we lost two 16+ point players (SF and Cat). So, I was thinking more about 24/8/7. JJ role may change; a bit more scoring.
Yao Ming should hopefully become a 20/10 guy this season; and Howard will produce more scoring from the PF slot than we got last year.
Ahh yes, but not more effeciently nor consistently, as T-mac would 22/8/7, and I think he's being modest, most likely 24-26/8/7. Not to mention with just as many steals and a lot more blocks and a stable 45 to 45+ FG percentage, which Steve is incapable of doing. Another thing Steve is incapable of doing, is having the skills, body and talents to play three diverse positions. Yes, I know I know you weren't saying Steve=T-mac, or even seriously comparing em, I know better than that. Nonetheless, I still had the impulse to point out what you most likely already knew. Ahem, anyway, where was I? Ah yes.. T-mac! T-mac! T-mac! T-mac!
Ahh yes, and uh, T-mac has great defensive abilities on the verge to being excellent under JVG. Sorry, just had to add that aswell, don't mind me. T-Mac!
*Shudder* Oh God, please trade him. Please!!!! I CAN'T TAKE THAT STUFF ANYMORE!! I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER!!
This whole section of the article made me laugh. Are they talking about the same Steve Francis? Did I miss something? Is he all the sudden a master of the fast break? Guess they're in for a little surprise...
Man, talk about spin! I hope they aren't expecting Steve to be the one forcing the up-temp, fast-break action.
He made some comments about not getting to practice the fastbreak with JVG. Odd how I guess they didn't get to practice it too much with Rudy, either. My thinking: they can't handle a fastbreak.
22-8--7 thats pretty realistic numbers T-MAC is talking about. now if we can get Yao to 20-11 games, we'll be in great shape!
Welcome to the board. I don't think T-Mac's numbers are too far off, to tell the truth. 22 8 and 7? Maybe he won't get that many boards, but he'll dish the ball like crazy. We have Yao, we have Mo and/or Howard (depending on the start of the season and who's still here).
If we keep Pike along with JJ and and Mo T shooting midrange along with Howard underneath as the defense collapses on T-Mac as he drives, 7 APG isn't that hard to envision. The fact that he's willing to dish is refreshing and a good sign. I think JVG will set the bar high for McGrady to expand his game in several areas and we may see him playing at his peak and maxing out in several categories. He's gonna be a MONSTER with Yao, having never had the opportunity to play with a dominant center. He'll be a regular SportsCenter highlight reel for top ten plays of the week IMO
Yeah, I'm hoping that Yao breaks the 10 rebound mark. Someday I hope him to get around 13-14 per. But, that's up to Yao. At that point, it's about desire. He'll know the technique by then. Just whether or not he wants to rebound like that night after night over a 82 game season. Next year...I'm hoping these numbers. McGrady: 24/8/7 Yao: 20/10/2 JJ: 14/6/3
