Enough! We've had the hardest schedule in the league early on. Chill out. THe only other time I've seen a player hated like this recently was Pierce in Boston before the trade for KG and Allen. People wanted him dead. People wanted him out. Now they are saying he's better than Kobe. We are forced to reconnect and still need to get healthy. We're without two former starters, and Yao and Scola havent played that much together. You trade T-Mac now and you'll never know a championship with any of the people on this roster. We'll go into a decade long dark hole of suck. Bunch of cry babies. Everyone feels sick over our play, and tonight's loss. Now is not the time to panic. Now is the time to come together. It's about one thing, and that's the championship. Everyone on this team knows that, and believe me they have waaaaaaaaay more riding on it than anyone on this board.
The truth is.......even though this might piss some people off. Tmac's expiring contract is more valuable than Tmac the player now. Don't get me wrong...I'm not a "Tmac hater" I root my ass off for his jumpers to go in, but the fact is that Tmac's days of being dominant night in and night out are over. Sure on a given night he can light a team up like he did against the Suns, but then he'll likely come out the next couple of nights and just take all the paint off the rim. He's always going to be inconsistent from here on out. Atleast with that 20+ million dollar expiring contract we'll have enough money to sign a top player and can retool with our other young players. When Houston goes to rebuild they shouldn't be down that long.
You know, I'm really tired of the "never gotten out of the first round" argument. We all know how well he plays in the PO(minus Utah two years ago). Everyone he raises up his game in PO, and puts up amazing numbers. I really don't think it's his fault AT ALL that he never gotten out of the first round. But then again, you could also say the same thing about the "but he never had the supporting cast around him" argument.
these pollyannas are just as mad as the chicken littles... on this roster.. we have Scola.. who as a starter last year.. when he started to get it going.. which coincidentally happened at sametime as Tracy's injury.. was 20 and 10.. we also have Landry.. who other than his defensive mistake on this game.. is looking in pretty good shape to being 10/10 off the bench.. we have the amazingly fast Brooks who you can pretty much expect 12-14pts off the bench from now on.. shooting 45+ percent behind the arc.. and if that weren't eough.. we also have.. let's see.. oh yeah... Artest.. a "capable" 20+ ppg 2stls 5rbs guy... and of course.. Yao Ming.. they days of having to be over-reliant on Tracy.. are over.. unfortunately he.. doesn't know that.. and of course.. no one on the team.. is going to challenge him into seeing otherwise.. it's Artests first year..
Damn, I am getting nightmares now because we didnt do Chauncey/Rasheed for T-Gimp when it was brought up. Man that woulda been sweet. We coulda package a deal with Rafer+head + fillers for another MLE player. DAYAM. Chauncey/Ron/Rasheed/Yao. That is some crazy defense.
McGrady isn't next on that list, you have to not only compare with respect to average output, but also consistency. In other words, McGrady can be TMac on some nights but he cannot bring it every night, and let's disregard the games he misses. The greatest indication that a player has jumped the shark is when they still put up great numbers but have unusually high number of games where they just can't do it (look at barkley after 10 years, stockton after 14 years, etc etc). TMac is in his 10th years, this may be his last as an all-star if history is any indication.
What is wrong with you? What you like him so much? He is even better than T Prince. Whenever he makes a shoot, I guarantee you that he will have a poor shoot next round.
Change. Either he changes attitude (not talent),or Rockets change course by trading him next year for ... whoever has a fire to fight in games.
Great idea, I should have thought of it. Marbury's gabage contract is one year shorter than tmac's, to it'll save les 22m dollars if morey buy out marbury's gabage contract instead of buying out hers.
If nothing happen's he is gone at the end of the season and Rockets will be rebuilding. Yao might stay. But imagine the trading material we have, we can get anybody. Tmac+Yao for ? If we where to rebuild we have good trading assets.
Do you watch any other teams play? I can think of at least one player on most teams that I'd take over TMac at this point in his career. Money aside, talent wise there are a quite a few players that I would rather have than him. Brandon Roy, Kevin Durant, Richard Jefferson, Paul Pierce, D Howard, Stephen Jackson, Manu, Deron Williams, the list goes on and on. The problem is he won't admit that he doesn't have it some nights and keeps jacking shots and taking away from the flow of the offense. He's still a talented player, but he doesn't fit with other good players.
I got fed up with him last season. We used to be a team where players played above themselves. Now the supposed leader of our team started every game under an injury cloud and has proven to be gutless when it counts. If he had won SOMETHING, I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But I think he'll just be one of these players with really nice looking stats who never really achieves what matters the most. There are players who have had less ability and who have had a worse supporting cast who have lead team better than t mac has.
Just sit tight, wait till his contract expires in 2010 and give a triple max contract to Wade. Unfortunately we would have to suffer through 2 more T-Crap seasons, but in the end is the best. If we trade him we won't be able to go after any of the superstars in that 2010 class. Although I think Lebron is out of our reach.
I agree with Antisonic. Let's just waive his ass. The dude sucks. He's embarrassing. Everyone gets on Steve for never taking us anywhere in the playoffs, but T-Mac has been here just as long and has just as much playoff success as Stevie. For all the boneheadedness, at least Steve played with heart every night.
