You should say.. Bob Sura, David Wesley, Jon Barry and Mike James. It's amazing how much heart that team had.. Took it to seven games against the Mavs on pure heart.. unfortunately age caught up to them simultaneously in game 7.. If Bob Sura and Mike James were part of this year's team, Rafe and Head would be on the sidelines with Bob's and Mike's gatorade ready..
Brilliant. We go up 2-0, and nobody says a word. We lose the next two, and the status quo of T-Mac that, Yao soft this, Rafer's a bum that, V-Span time now this, where's Bonzi that, fire JVG that, how about (insert player's/coach's name here) joining the Rockets that, etc etc to the etc to the etc. Calm down, guys. We did what we had to do, and protected home court. We went up 2-0. Utah did what they needed to do, and protected their home court. Series tied 2-2. Let's just focus on game 5, and hope the Rockets take care of business. Don't hit the panic button just yet.
1) The 04-05 team goes to the WCF if Juwan Howard was available. 2) Fran Blinebury has brainwashed at least a fourth of the posters here.
Did you watch Juan perform in playoffs while he was on Dallas? Have you been following Juan this playoffs? Would you like me to bring up the stats? (Oh please say you would...) In case you didn't catch it...Juan is SOFT. He vanishes, poofs, disappears.... Juan not being available that series was the reason we took Dallas to 7 games. Had Juan played, that series would have been over a lot quicker, with Dallas winning. Juan could not guard anybody. Yao and our 4 smalls were already having hard enough time matching up against Dallas 5 smalls in that series. Juan and Yao on at the same time would have been a matchup nightmare for Houston. And here you are preaching about matchups in the "Golden State and Houston Rockets determination" thread... Talk about hypocrisy. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2897548&postcount=27
Clutch, I really think you're making something out of nothing. In hindsight that team was not very good outside of T-Mac and Yao. Likeable and hardworking, yes. I loved the spirit of that team, but those guys outside of Yao and Tracy would've barely have gotten off the bench for any of the other playoff teams that year.
You're a clueless hating troll. First off, I was talking about 2 years ago. What does Howard's performance NOW have to do with that? And you keep bringing up his time when he was on Dallas. Who cares? That's a different team with different needs than us. Juwan was a bad fit there. He was a great fit here because he could shoot. If you think it's impossible that we could beat Dallas with Howard, look at this game. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=250112006 I don't give a crap that it was a regular season game. It shows that we can beat them if Juwan plays well. Dallas could not stop T-Mac and J-Ho's pick and pop play. It's sad that you think Ryan Bowen > Juwan Howard. You have no idea. You have no clue how J-Ho's jumpshot (which he was consistently nailing before he got hurt) could've helped us. So... where's the hypocrisy again? I can't find it.
I knew I won my argument as soon as you settled to name calling *Yawn*. It wont have anything to do with it as soon as you can prove to me that 2 years ago Juan would have helped in playoffs. The difference is I have stats and performance history to back up my claim that Juan is a non-factor in playoffs, while you don't have any evidence to suggest otherwise. Amazing. Just amazing. He was a bad fit for Dallas because he could shoot?? Yes Dallas, problem with you is that you have too many folks that can shoot. Please get rid of your shooters! Brilliant!!!! You know the irony of the Juan situation in Dallas? He was brought in by Cuban to toughen up one of the softest front court lines in the NBA and make open jumpers when stars were covered. He failed at both and was let go after just 1 season of experimentation. When a soft @ss team like Dallas drops you for being soft, you know you have issues. *Yawn* ONE regular season game. If I had to rely on regular season stats to win an argument I would bring Dirk up and he would actually win a MVP. Oh wait.... You are new to this playoffs thing so I can understand why. Based on one regular season game? Taking that odd for a 7 game series? Righhhtttt Sure they could. Again how many of those open jumpers has Juan made this playoffs? Oh right right...I forgot, Juan was invincible back then. here you go putting words in my mouth to win your argument. Let's see you point out where I even mentioned Ryan Bowen. Juan was also nailing those shots regularly when Yao was out this season. Where is it now? But of course, it would have been money in 05 playoffs. Why? Because you said so. Hypocrisy is when you bring up "matchups" when it suits your argument but completely swallow it when it doesn't. Click on the link I provided. You will find it there.
No offense Clutch, I know you really loved that 04-05 team and see this as a jab at them, but this is reading way too much into McGrady's statements. You could write one of these articles after every interview. It's like analyzing what Clyde says. It's just not productive. T-Mac talks in cliches when he's talking about basketball. Analyzing those cliches will always find inconsistencies.
I may be totally off, but I think it has to do with frustration over this team - and providing an excuse into why T-Mac may never win a playoff series (instinct, heart, domination, whatever...). I dont doubt the validity of your article, it holds merit, but Im wondering if you would disect something like player quotes if we were up 3-1. Again, I could be totally off.
which is better? tmac/wesley/sura or battier/tmac/alston I know barry/james >>>head but we had wells, snyder before the start of the season, the current team should have had a better bench.
There is no question. If you could add Bob Sura and Mike James from back then to this team, that would be THE team. Two BULLDOGS with lots of fire and grit. Heck even Barry off the bench.
To be fair... we were playing a "superior" (by record) team that year, in which most thought we had little chance to begin with... But I do agree, that team is criminally overlooked, and this is likely just more T-Mac talk.
Sorry... Meant to post it on the "Signs for tonight thread". I think TMac remembers what he said two years ago, which is also kind of disrespectful of his team from two years ago. But, most are gone, so who cares. I think TMac needs to be less cocky. The "It's on me" comment may sound like he was motivated. But when I heard it, it simply sounded cocky. And it pumps up the opposing team. It is kind of when he made those comments of "looking forward to the second round" when they were up 3-1 versus Detroit. I think the next time TMac plays a first round he simply needs to do on thing: Know when to keep his mouth shut. TMac: Simply show us your talent and you will get all the media attention that you crave so much.
I am not so sure. I think the series would still be 2-2 if this was the 04-05 team. The Jazz is simply a damn good team. The only difference is that the 04-05 might have not lost so bad on games 3 and 4.
The 06-07 Jazz? Because if so, you're dead wrong. Can you imagine Flyin Ryan trying to stop Boozer or Okur? At least Chuck can slow them down.
