Tmacs career has been on a doenward spiral since he took that ill fated surgery which the Rockets begged him to avoid
I can't believe that people are still so angry and bitter at Tmac. Yes, he was/is a drama queen when he didn't get his way and it was an ugly ending, but that's water under the bridge IMO. The guy was absolutely great before the microfracture (when he checked out). He played his ass off for us in the playoffs. He also had a complete garbage supporting cast outside of Yao. Jordan/Pippen never won without role players like Grant, Rodman, Armstrong, Kukoc, etc. and Kobe didn't win without Kobe/Shaq/Pau never won without Rice, Fisher, Fox, Horry, Odom, Fisher, Bynum. Tracy/Yao had freakin Rafer, Battier, Juwan Howard, Jim Jackson, Stro Swift. Ryan Bowen started playoff games for God's sake! Not saying Tracy was quite on the level of those two, the two greatest SGs in NBA history, but he was elite. We'd all be better off if we let go of personal issues against him and appreciated how good he was -- if only Morey had been in place back then we could be talking about hanging his jersey up in the rafters right now.
- Most people hate on him after the infamous Toronto game - Huge diva who constantly puts himself before the team - Never lead ANY team when active past the first round, ever - Took Rockets on a endless nightmare of drama and ego during his last 2 years on the team - Agreed on playing 8 minutes a game and then whined about it all season long There are many, many other reasons, but it is not just us. With every team he had played for before the surgery, he has burned bridges with each franchise and their fanbase. He was booed in both Orlando and Toronto for the longest time afterwards and was heartily boo'ed by Rockets fans when he came back after being traded.
CD/Morey's mistake was not trading McGrady earlier. What could have been if the Rockets had dealth him year 2. Wasted Yao's prime years.
lol How the Yao's prime years could be wasted if he was injured? Or did Tracy hit him and broke his leg couple of times in a row? When Yao was playing his best basketball ever, in Rick's first season, Yao had that fracture and Yao was out of the season and T-Mac set all his career on table for that streak and playoff push Yao was out next year by himself, too even when he was limited to 30-32 minutes per game in regular season. And nobody actually crashed onto him like Tim Thomas did earlier. It wasn't on T-Mac, Rick or Morey. It was on his body If we would lose those Lakers series with Yao on the court, than you might be right, but Yao was out after game 3 and you can't say that he would be healthy if somebody would play instead of T-Mac on the wing because Yao's body proved later that he wasn't capable to play anymore.
Yao was a great warrior, but he was capable to play a lot earlier rather than later in his career but we just were not that good to win it all, because of all scrubs on the roster
Did you ever consider the supporting cast? Kobe's Lakers missed the playoffs when Shaq left town. Jordan didn't win those championships on his own either. I don't think either one of them is that much better than T-Mac in his prime. It's so unfortunate that T-Mac/Yao combo never won a ring because of the crappy supporting cast. It's not all on T-Mac.
Ok... I get the T-Mac hate.. But this statement here is just ridicules.... Yao was Yao and trying to blame someone else for his short comings is just stupid.. T_Man
