losing weight is ALWAYS good as you get older. why? your body's metabolism isn't as quick. and he just had that knee surgery. i think after the 04-05 season where he tried to gain weight/muscle, it backfired on him. he should have always stayed at around 210-215lbs.
I doubt Miami wants him. It's not like they need him to draw the fans based on his name recognition and he didn't exactly impress while he was in NY. I don't see Pat Riley bringing in a role player who refuses to play defense or anything else role players are supposed to do. Not hating, just stating the facts. McGrady's effort in NY was pretty bad and he had more to prove there than anywhere he has ever been.
He's was borderline underweight in Orlando. If he goes back to that weight minus the speed and explosiveness he had then (which is a given) then all he will be is a guy to slow to guard SG and to weak to guard SF. I thought he looked good last season and was at a realistic weight for a player of his age and position. His days of out jumping or out quicking players are long over. It's time for him to accept his role as a high post...dare I say...point forward. He needs a little bulk to do that.
t-mac would be a great fit in miami. imagine him running the point and throwing oops off the backboard to himself! sick!
miami makes since, especially since FL is his home. But i would imagine he will sit back a while and wait for the dust to settle
have you seen KG? are you saying he's underweight? tmac at 210-215 was able to bang people (he posted a lot in orlando). and his weight in 04-05 was ideal. he gained like 10-15 lbs to 225-230 and it has been disastrous injuries-wise since 05-06. with his back and knee problems, increased weight is terrible from a common-sense standpoint. and you can see that trend in players who are getting older. they need to lower their playing weight if they want to avoid injuries and prolong their careers. tmac would be stupid to enter next season at 225lbs.
Hopefully we can sign him so we can at least make some sort of "splash." He's the perfect fit for us right now.
If all the working out he supposedly did with Tim Grover only got him down to the size he was last season (which I actually thought was a good size for him) then for him to get to 210lb would probably require such a calorie deficient diet that the guy would have no stamina to actually play games. I don't remember him banging with anybody in Orlando. I remember him blowing by them or jumping over them. If you think he can bang with NBA small forwards at 210lb then you're in for a not-so-great surprise. I do agree that the lighter he is the better it will be for his knees/back but if he can't get and stay at the weight without being able to stay in true basketball shape then it's pointless.
Hey OP, way to flood the board with yet another speculation thread. Imagine if everyone started a new thread whenever they have an interesting thought. Link or you stink.
I thought this would be a thread about mutual interest between the two, not another speculation- "Where Will Tracy Go?" thread. Ah...Wednesday.
Ya I guess, but still an update or a picture to confirm that he is actually working out and not slacking off. I figured SOMEBODY would have something like that, but not that I can find.
At least I didn't fool people into thinking there was legitimate possibility by posting a BleacherReport article. Or if you want, I can write one up myself and link to it
