TMac coming back and having a great season like Wade did would be a dream. The likelihood is small, though, but it is there. That's the hope that the fans need to cling to, we do have a very talented player that "could" be back. I have vacillated between giving up on him and believing in him....but I know that the only real chance the Rockets have to make anything happen next year is that Tmac comes back to form and distributes the ball and scores ALOT. I don't think it's realistic to assume Morey can move him at this point until he plays and shows he's back, then of course anything is possible, but once he plays, the insurance grab is gone for other teams, so who would want him for 23 mm? NO ONE..... So reluctantly, I am back to hoping he can make a comeback, prove the naysayers wrong and lead us into the playoffs.... Being a rockets fan sucks sometimes.
Grover isn't a doctor. McGrady will play when the Rockets' doctors say so. If Grover or McGrady says he's ready for starter responsibilities and the Rockets' doctors say he needs more time or they allow his return with only limited minutes ... guess what the Rockets are doing. They are the ones who pay his salary and the insurance. McGrady only trusting Grover means squat. I hope the Rockets doctors do find him OK to start the season. The sooner he gets on the court, the more doors open for Morey for a possible trade of his liking.
I have read all the negative threads about T-Mac on this site and I have come to this conclusion. Most of you guys are fairweather fans. I am a T-Mac fan thats for sure but I no this to be fact. Basketball is and has always been a too leg sport. And from what I saw he's leg was no good last year. Being injured is not his fault and just because you make millions of dollars doesn't make you immune to injuries.
Man. Some guys on cluchfans are really resentful. They reminisce the bad and forget about the good times.
Well thecabbage, I think the mcgrady-yao ship has sailed, but i'm saying this from a very reliable source. Now if it was me and I could get martin and some kind of filler for tracy, I would do it, but I don't think les is. In fact, i'm going to go out on a limb and say tracy will resign here for 4 yrs 40m after the season. Yeah, I know people will never believe even if I gave up my source. They would want him to come on clucthfans to say it. The truth of the matter is throughout the league, most players find it easier and the rockets would have a better chance with tracy. Tracy is probably the easiest star player other than james to play with. Morey knows how valuable he is as a playmaker and he's also a good guy off the court. I love the effeciency of martin and I love his ability to get to the line and is a pure scorer, but les loves tracy like a son. When tracy comes back, notice I said when because from my accounts, he will be there for game one and plays, the rockets will be in contention for the playoffs. This isn't a knock, but even a stat man like morey can say that the rockets have shown they can win regular season games without yao. Until they got artest, they coudnt buy a win without tracy. I know I danced around your question, but what I would do vs what les will do is different. I know for a fact that if tracy misses any games, it will only be 2-5 games tops. After the season, the rockets will get him at a reduced salary of 10m or so. I don't know how happy clutchfans will be, don't shoot the messager.
Wait, so you think he's going to be playing from the first regular season game? And you think he's going to play 75+ games this year? Do you think he'll be ready by training camp and play some pre season games?
And somewhere Judy Garland is still sing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"... Sorry, but I simply don't put any stock into ANYTHING TMac or his PR crew has to say particularly when they are looking to for the next mark to pay his contract. BTW, I do have a suggestion: the next time they release info on his rededication, etc, they should do so to the tune of "Rocky". It would make a nice visual montage of sorts...
I know the question is not directed to me but I have the urge to answer it, if you don't mind. Hold onto him if those two are not available. The 07 Tmac was not only a closer, scorer and facilitator... he was an also a motivator. True we had Deke and Battier , two of the more inspirational leaders in the NBA but T-mac to charge of this team when Yao went down. He wouldn't let us lose. I'd prefer, the 07 McGrady vs the 05 one. More maturity and less mistakes. If that Tmac comes back you keep him and give him a Mid level contract around 10 million, we can sign another above average player with the rest. Yao gets healthy and we compete for the Gold.
This will be an ultimate come back for Tmac if that's the case! I know he has to shine for new contract after the season whether with the Rockets or other team!
Leeb, I hope you're right about McG and a 4/40 deal. He's a unique talent that can succeed with a big man as uniquely challenged as Yao is. That said, if it were my choice, I'd move Yao once he's healthy (i know...i know) again. Of course Les probably doesn't plan on that. Also, you've mentioned before that wings have asked McG about playing with Yao and how difficult it must be. My question is, if they're asking McG and he's giving glowing reviews about it, wouldn't that increase the likelihood of premier FA's coming to HOU?
an 07 tmac was a 3rd-team all-nba (and he wasn't even healthy that season). if we can acquire high draft picks + some decent players, i would trade him. however, i would only trade preferably if another all-star is involved. if no deal, keep him and see what happens in the playoffs. however, i would NOT resign tracy. he's going on 31 and we have younger players to develop here. the tracy/yao era is OVER. i wish we wouldn't resign yao too, but that is unrealistic. having 2 injury-prone guys is simply stupid. but i'm excited to see what kind of tracy we'll see this year though
That would not surprise me in the least, and if that happens, it is all Les. Bottomline, that will be one of the stupidest moves in basketball history, only superseded by signing Yao to a similar deal. Both Yao and TMac, though talented, are too fragile to build a team around. How many times does that have to be proven? All "heart" no "head" decisions condemned this team to 13 years of mediocrity and can do so again. I hope you are wrong, but if you are not, our only hope is that Les and the other minority owners (and there are a bunch) will sell the team to someone with common sense.
would this be your very reliable source? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4693644&postcount=61 do you mean 2-5 games the whole year or to start the season? if he does come back by game 6 he will be missing a lot more games throughout the year. i am willing to bet my surgically repaired knee on that. also, are you getting the contract thing from your source or are you getting it from a source that is speculating based on morey's comments here http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4693644&postcount=61
What? Why would I be his source? I think there is no way Tmac is signed for 4 years....I would be shocked if he is here past the trade deadline. I think the organization will move on without him and get what they can by February. DD
lol i wasn't implying you were the source. i was posting your transcription of the morey interview where he said the yao-tmac era was likely over.
i do believe that there is a time-table for his return they're just not letting it out. every step of rehab has its time-table of when to do and when not to do certain kinds of execises and drills. so there should be a time table for his return..and take note time table isnt a date but dates within a time period. i just hope that he is on schedule w/ his return whatever that date is.Because these guys always have a target date to challenge and to motivate themselves.
