Rockets agreed to pay it, its their fault not his. I am in agreement though that they are paying it, they can do whatever they want (e.g., sitting him). Whether we agree with it or not, it is their choice, assuming they are not defrauding the insurnace company in the process.
I will take any of the Yahoo writer's articles over our own Chronicle writers. Jonathan Feigen is an "embedded Journalist". Does he cover Rockets for Chronicle or works for Rockets? Richar Justice is an idiot and I forgot the name of the other guy.
My feeling is this - this team, as constructed - can't win past the first round. Add Yao Ming, and this team can make the second round...but I am not sure we would have beaten the Lakers. We were lost Game 3 with Yao and lost HCA and never seriously challenged LA on their home court. Losing embarrassingly. I don't think Yao could have made up 20-40 points. Those games were blowouts. People make a lot about getting to the 2nd round, but our opponent - Portland was a young and inexperienced team. It was not Dallas or Utah. So this team + Yao - I don't think is championship calibar - the perimeter play is too weak. I think you add T-mac, and it might be good enough to get us past the Lakers - barely. And if T-mac is healthy of course. we have a shot at the championship, but certainly not the favored contender. T-mac's ability to draw double teams and penetrate is a difference maker. I think if you look at the shooting precentages that Ariza and co are getting out there - it's clear that T-mac's percentages weren't all that bad. However, it seems unlikely T-mac will play again in a Rockets uniform. That's too bad. I would have liked to see what he could do when he was healthy. The last time he was healthy he helped us to 22 straight wins. It's unfortunate he won't get a chance, but maybe he still will...i hope he just keeps his head down and practices hard and does everything right. That's all he can do now.
It's just a such a sour ending to what could have been a great run if not for a few bounces. The 111 era Rockets never had a completely healthy and playoff ready team during the postseason. Juwan Howard was out during the Mavericks series when he was still sorta kinda better than Ryan Bowen. Yao was fresh off an injury during the first Jazz series. If he was completely battle ready I don't think Okur would have been able to push him around. Yao was out during the streak season. They finally pushed through last season but fell short when Yao's foot decided to go fishing. Things could have been a lot better, and I'm pretty disappointed at how it all turned out. Hopefully Tracy lands in a good situation somewhere else because it's pretty clear he isn't going to be able to bring us a chip at his current level.
i think you knew this thread would turn out this way but he is appreciated. when he was healthy, he did produce. unfortunately, we didn't achieve any team success with tracy at the helm. it wasn't all his fault, but as the best player, he had to take the blame. i would have just wished him and yao would have been healthy throughout their entire tenure and see what would have happened.
No, I genuinely hoped for appreciation. Thought maybe with the impending "closure" people would lighten up and let things go... let bygones be bygones.
If it's true what Yahoo Sports reported ... goodbye T-Mac! I'll miss you for sure, even things didn't worked out with the Rockets. <object width="450" height="380"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tsQDv5DVsSE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tsQDv5DVsSE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="450" height="380"></embed></object>
"TMAC TO THE RACK". Tracy had some exciting games as a Rocket. The game that gave me goose bumps was the game against Dallas in Dallas when he and Dirk had a Texas shootout, neither could miss. Rockets didn't win but to see them go toe to toe was awesome. At the end of the day no matter how talented Tracy is/was is wasn't enough to take this team pass the first round more yet a championship title. At some point you have to make a change. Tracy is still capable of probably avg 17pts a night but he is not the star who is going to lead rockets to a ring. At best he is a role player, a 3rd option on a playoff team.
That was one hell of a game. I really hope its not over... At least give him the rest of the year to play then let him go if need be.
I agree, he's still technically a Rocket and practicing with the team, it's too early to have this thread.
I think the op just wanted to be "first" to create the official "Tmac not a rocket" thread. I too believe that Tmac is done in Houston. On the right team (true championship team), I think he can definitely play at a superstar level as long as he is not expected to carry the whole load.
You missed the point. McGrady was Moon and Ariza was Carlson in my analogy. Unless houson is paying 23mil to aariz too anyway.... All I am saying is hard to pass judgement when you are not inside the team... And everyone else including the reporters have their own agenda...it naiive to believe eveything and bettter to wait before you trash a guys reputation and or work ethic. I am only judging and appreciating what I've seen from him on the court when he was healthy. And when he was, last I remembered he played his heart out to win.. Even when he did not. Remeber the last palyoff game he played . And I respect that
The deal is not done yet. When they make the announcement, Tracy passes his physical and he's on a plane out of town, then we can rejoice. Until then all we can do is hope. It was fun and it was real, but it wasn't real fun.
