He was really good three years ago, but was at his best 7 years ago.

    Who cares though.

This might be the biggest decline of a former star.

Drexler was the best player on two NBA Finals teams. He was the #2nd best player on a third.
"True" Rockets fans know why he was #2.
Drexler EASILY was named to the Hall of Fame and 50 best players of all time.

Let's say you never saw Drexler play, that resume itself is greater than the resume of your beloved hero.

Pure Skills? Tracy was a better passer and his jumper was nicer than Drexler's. But that doesn't make you a legendary basketball player

Age has nothing to do with crap. Look at Kobe, or Duncan, or even Dwayne Wade. You saw these guys play right?

What do they have that tracy doesn't? and don't give me the typical TOF answer:

    a. teammates
    b. health

if you TRULY follow Tracy McGrady, you know for DAMN SURE , he wouldn't average 15 points/game this year. Cause you've seen what happened in the past couple years with Rick Adelman and the Rockets.

the 26 point debut was attempting to prove the Rockets/Morey/Rick wrong.
everything after that proved they were right.

If the Pistons keep on losing and Tracy continues to average south of 1 point a game, I can see him retire before Christmas.

you're not understanding my point of view at all. i'm looking at a player by himself. doesn't matter how good/bad his team was, but i am of course referring to the tracy of 2 or 3 years ago. health was still an issue in his career, but not to the extent it is now.

as for drexler, lol ok im not a true rockets fans because i wasnt alive and didn't get to see a lot of his games and talent? all i know is what i see from highlight reals, newspapers, and the nba finals. which he was fantastic in, i'm not r****ded i know drexler is a hall of fame and all time great.

but i think that tmac prior to his knee injuries was one of the most talented players of all time as well. for his size, his abilities with the ball were ridiculous and i really really liked watching him.

and age doesn't have anything to do with crap? i dunno what i posted b4 and im not going to go look, but i dont understand what youre saying here. my age or his age? answer and ill be happy to reply.

my point on age, is that you got to see some players who were significantly better than tmac. for example, it's a joke back then and it's a joke now to compare him to kobe.

it's clear that kobe was ALWAYS better than tmac, and Duncan was ALWAYS better than tmac, etc, and for sure LeBron was ALWAYS better than tmac

For Drexler, he wasn't his prime when he joined the Rockets, he was in his prime when he led the Blazers to 2 NBA finals.

"Talent" only gets so far, but apparently in Tracy's case, talent gets you a billion fans who adore you.

Are Tracy fans that blind? seriously? after being dumped by the Rockets, Knicks, and turned down by many teams in the off season, do they really think he's going to be a superstar again?

A guy who in his best days was injury prone?

we made this bet in the summer. i was and still am optimistic that mcgrady would return to at least a quality player. he had all summer to work on strengthening his knee and after we made this bet i tried to find stuff all summer on his activities, but was never able to find anything.

and what happened with us? he pretty much was doing fine even playing injured in the playoffs in 08 then after that he was injured, it wasnt really a steady drop off. i dont even think he began the season in 09 (not last season, but the season before the 08-09 season, didn't want to mix that up with the playoffs mentioned before which were from the 07-08 team)

Another thing that irked me about the TOFs is they credit him for the 22 game winning streak.

What I clearly remembered was that other players got to showcase their talents in the streak. Even Rafer was fantastic.

For me the streak showed we had a great team, it wasn't about one guy at all.

so once a guy's career is over, or superstar status is over we are supposed to dump him?? lol thats terrible man. i was a fan and am always a fan. why would i not root for the guy that i used to love watch, why would i not want him to succeed?

i think there was a legitimate argument in comparing him and kobe 5 years ago, before kobe showed that he was a leader. not a question now, but yes back then it was, they were two young and extremely talented guards.

who compares tmac to duncan? i dont like comparing people that dont play remotely the same position. duncans post game is fundamentally sound, near perfection, but tmac didn't play the post, he handled the ball and drove to the lane. two completely different players.

yes lebron is an overall better player now, would not have thought that 4 years ago.

Drexler was better basketball player than TMac.

I just can't see someone intelligent being irked about TOFs and love around him. It's always been like that, even in the 90's. It's just that winning brings fans together and loosing sets them apart..

Watched the 1st half of the Piston game last night and T-mac did not look very good. Before the 1/2 time he was sitting on the bench with the trainer looking at his leg and Tracy was shaking his head and pointing at his knee. I think he looked like he was hurting.

T-Mac is still tall and he can still pass. He should be on a roster after this season, but I don't expect him to get a lot of playing time.

He looked good tonight and had a few steals and two extremly tough moves. He'll never be a star again, but a good 6th man once he gets his fitness up.
