Much like last season, we're getting mixed signals from the McGrady camp and the Rockets camp. It is frustrating. Maybe an insider can give us some more info.
trust me, adelman wants a healthy mcgrady. if people remember his start to the 07-08 season, tracy was basically the ONLY player who was executing his offense (running around picks/screens, cutting...) BEFORE he got injured of course. tracy can play his offense. but the news about holding him out is kind of shocking to me, with again, rockets management and tracy not on the same page.
Morey said they did an MRI and after talking with Clanton and the doctor from Chicago they decided for him to rehab till november and they will take MRI then. I still don't understand that. He was seing him every tim in Chicago and yet Tracy Grover etc say he is ready and than the team says he is not. I just don't know.
No other way to cut it, the guy just came off of microfractive surgery, if they let him play to early, they blow there chances of having a better than expected season. We all saw videos of him playing half speed pickup games, its whole lot different practicing on a daily basis, playing in back to backs and the worst of it is no matter what Tracy does when he eventually steps on the court he's going to see double teams and defenses shifting just because he's T-Mac. So I for one have no problem spotting him a month or so of the season just to have him back 100%.
Im not sure I buy into that belief. No matter how little loose cartilage you have in there, they still cut your knee up and are digging around in there. I do agree that Amare still had a bigger procedure, But I wouldnt go as far to say that Mcgradys recovery time would be substantially less than Amares.
So, basically it's confirmed that he's ahead of schedule? Early projections were McG being out til around midseason. This suggests a much earlier return. Cool.
But McGrady as always was pretty much too fired up and he made us all ready for training camp. In fact it is better to wait I guess.
I think people are getting the Rockets organization, the coach (Rick Adleman), and Mcgrady's comments all mixed up. Mcgrady wants to play. He wants to play a lot and as soon as possible to prove himself. Adleman want's the best players on the floor period. It's in a coach's best interest to have all of his best players out there to win games and keep a job. The Rockets organization (Morey, Les, etc.) is a different story. They have the team's future in mind. If they don't feel Mcgrady is at his very best they don't want to risk his trade value dropping. To them this season is a lost cause, anyway. They just want to get ready and have the best team out there for when Yao returns and beyond. I would guess that all parties involved are being a little disingenuous.
Jeff Who, Come on, you did not honestly believe what Tmac was saying, right? He may think he is ready but the Rockets decide what is right for the good of the overall team etc.... DD
The Rockets cautious handling of McGrady's injury sends a great PR message. They are protecting a guy in a contract year that may not even be in their future plans. All this after said player mistreated the organization by announcing his own decision for surgery pre-deadline. Free agents will take note in the offseason. Houston's current regime treats its players with class.

You know. I strongli belive he is ready physically and he could play now, but with this type of surgery maybe it is really better to wait and come back later but with no setback in the future. As I said, he may be ready even now but the team wants no part of what happend last year.
