So your'e saying you don't have a problem with him being hurt, just him whining about it? He is playing hurt BTW. And try defending someone quicker than you with a tweaked ankle. Not easy, no matter how good you are.
Here's the rub. TMac is interviewed after every game and everyone is interested in the health of our only remaining all-star player. So he gets asked about his health after every game. Now do you want honest answers in the interview or do you want something like this: Reporter - "How's that bone bruise coming along?" TMac - "Oh, it doesn't bother me any more." Reporter - "Is that pinky still bothering you?" TMac - "No,it's fine." Reporter - "Does your ankle adversely affect your game?" TMac - "Nope, smooth as silk." Reporter - "How's the shoulder situation?" TMac - "Oh, I assure you that it's still attached!" Reporter - " And finally, does your back bother you any more?" TMac - "Not since I sat down to talk to you! Excuse me, I meant to say 'Not at all!'"
Let's face it, it would probably be better if T-Mac just lied. There's a scene in "Bull Durham" where Kevin Costner teaches Tim Robbins' character how to answer questions from the press with an endless string of cliches. If T-Mac saw that and took it to heart the world would never have heard about the depth perception issues at Toyota Center. When that got brought up on TNT Craig Sager and Kevin Harlan basically laughed their asses off.
I am a lifelong Rockets fan. I have rooted for this team for as far back as I can remember and in all the years I have watched basketball, I have never seen A BIGGER P***Y in a Rockets uniform or on an NBA floor. This guy has just about gotten on my last nerve with his injuries. Not only does he get hurt often, but he has to show and tell the world that it hurts, where it hurts, how it hurts. Seriously sick of this guy. That's what seperates him from the rest of the superstars in this league. They are willing to play through injuries. Sorry just had to vent. This is just sickening to me. That a player whose team is on the verge of making the playoffs, and has had one of the most unbelievable runs in the history of the NBA, is a 1/2 game from the F***ing 1st seed, could complain so much about being injured. He's got unbelievable talent and could be a top 5 player in this league but FOR GOD SAKE, stop complaining about your injuries, suck it UP AND PLAY!
Oh no! Greg Seagur and Kevlin Harglove laughed at Tracy!! He's such a joke of a bball player! Seriously who cares what the media types think? When did it ever matter? Just let Tracy be Tracy. Stop expecting him to be the Ultimate Warrior in interviews and just let him speak his mind. It doesn't hurt anybody so long as he gets it done on the court, and last time I checked, he's by far the best player we got.
Bingo. A little history lesson for you short sided fans. Let him take a game off. When you start playing hurt, bad things happen.
No it's not better if T-Mac just lied. If people weren't so freakin sensitive like some people in this thread, it wouldn't be a problem. He's honest about what's bothering him, and he plays through a lot of his injuries. If T-Mac goes out there and has a horrible game shooting 3-18 because he can't move his shoulder propery and he doesn't say anything there'll be posts like "T-Mac doesn't have the heart. He's not into the game. 3-18? I mean come on!" Then if he has that same game but says his shoulder is really giving him problems, posts like these pop up "Man up Tracy! Stop being soft!" Bottom line is some morons here really expect players to be super human, and use money as the excuse. "Well if I was getting paid 20 million a year, I'd play with a broken foot if I had to!" It's easy to say until you really have to go out there and play with those injuries. 20 million doesn't buy your health. They They are freakin human. Some of you all need to accept that fact.
No, I don't think you understand it. He's been playing hurt. Who cares if he talks about it? Yao kept it quiet and he's gone for the year. Whenever he gets injured, it's funny how the trolls come out from under their bridge and start posting about how much he sucks, is hurt, is a wuss, etc... I guess Kobe is a wuss b/c he talked about his injured finger
What's the point? He only needs to learn six little words: "It's sore but I can play". All he has to do with any injury is just repeat that, over and over. Then if he does have to miss some games let the Rockets press office deal with the media. It's not a huge deal but it is a distraction. Frankly I'd rate Yao as more important to the team and he knows how to keep his yap shut. The basketball world would probably have been better off without the depth perception fiasco. Certainly this board would have been.
LOL always Excuses with tracy...if hes not on choose an excuse from below A. I'm Tired B. My teammates dont make shots C. Im injured D. Im Injured E. All of the Above JUST STF up and play...I dont want tmac to go anywhere, I just want him to play. but Unfortunately he is MENTALY WEAK
its not the sensitivity of the fans you need to be worried about, its the fact that every time tmac mentions he's tired or hurting, an opponent is listening. if its a major injury its unavoidable, but if its ordinary wear and tear and you're being more vocal about it than the next guy, it makes the OPPONENT think tmac is weak. so regardless of whether or not you think fans should mind their own business and let tmac "be himself," opposing players definitely pick up on it and you never want your opponent to feel like they have an edge on you. seeing the guy in front of you sucking wind just makes you more energized.
He has gone out and played, except when he had a legit knee injury. Sure, he whines, but he goes out and plays.
I don't even know if it's whining. T-Mac just needs to turn on that little internal censor in his head. It doesn't matter if he's out drinking with Blinebury and he says something like "This is off the record, but Rick Adelman is a clone of Adolf Hitler". It doesn't matter as long as nobody else hears it.
I don't think you understand that with the effort and force these guys exert on their bodies, an "ache" or "pain" can turn into something A LOT worse than originally expected (see Yao's foot). Just because someone like you THINKS T-Mac can play on a hurt knee, or shoulder, doesn't mean it's the truth. Stop trying to mask your irrational thoughts and desires with rational words. It's not working. T-Mac understands things a whole hell of a lot more than you.....the guy has been in the NBA damn near 10 years, has won scoring titles, is at the top level of his craft, and is leading a team to the playoffs. What have you done to understand anything in the NBA? You've watched a bunch of games, so now you know the kind of pain he feels? I've separated my shoulder, and let me tell you.....it feels like s**t....some of the worst pain I've ever felt. If he feels even half of what I felt, then I can understand why he's taking such a cautious tone with it.
Yeah, and Yao's been playing awesome the last 3 weeks.....keeping quiet about his injury sure didn't help this time, did it?
TMac needs to pace himself, only 11 more games to go till the playoffs. If he plays tonight he should just run the offense and see what the role players can do off that. I want to see how Woods will play in the next two games.
no **** he gets a bad rap. would u want a your team leader to say "i'm tired" during halftime? would you want coach adelman to say "ok i think we're going to lose this game" during halftime? no. everyone thinks it, but you never say it out loud.
The injury's going to happen regardless of whether or not you talk about it to the MEDIA. T-Mac can talk to his trainers and the medical staff as much as he wants to. In fact, I think the more he talks to them the better. On the other hand, the press probably doesn't need to know. In addition to my earlier suggestion of "It's sore but I can play" T-Mac might need another phrase: "The medical staff is looking into it. Our doctors are great". That's all he ever needs to say about any injury, ever.
Yeah, T-Mac needs to be more like his old teammate, Grant Hill, and just suck it up and play through injuries. Oh wait...
