Its time for Adelman to experiment with TMAC as a point guard, since Alston cannot effectively function as a PG when TMAC is on court. I notice that Alston cannot get into rhythm because he always gave up the ball to TMAC once they get into half court. Alston always let TMAC do the distributing while he waits for the ball to shoot so both unconciously have switch roles, Alston becoming the SG of the team that cannot shoot the ball. The Line up of TMAC, Wells/Head, Battier, Scola and Yao might work and make Alston and Brooks as the backup PG.
That goes against what the coaches have been saying. They like Alston as a PG as far as running the team. What they don't like is his erratic shooting. And they want T-Mac to be more of a finisher than a facilitator.
That said, I'd still like to see Mac play some minutes at the point. He'd be much better than Rafer at receiving the kick out pass and either making an open trey or driving in the lane and creating something. As another poster noted above, they'd be able to put some big players in the lineup with tmac as the point. I'd like to see this, but only at some points in a game when it can be used to exploit matchups.
I'd rather see T-Mac not handle the ball as much and receive the ball on the run or coming off a screen.
Is Adelman calling plays out there? If he is, is he the one telling us to run the offense this way or or do they just not listen or does he just let them play how they want? I am all for some more movement and having him come off of screens without the ball.
