you mean the ones where he scores lots of points and the team loses? I give you credit, at least you know Kobe and Lebron are obviously better. You still are on the bottom end of the Tmac fans, cause some Tmac fans here believe he's better than Shaq. What a poor excuse for a Tmac fan you are, you need to post something more outrageous than that.
So, the only factor possible in your estimation is that McGrady is at fault every time someone has a bad game? There are other factors that contribute to the numbers being skewed. Did you consider any of them? Probably not... What % of the games McGrady went for 19, was Artest negatively impacted by his injury woes? Is that quantifiable? What impact did Battier attendance/non-attendance have on the numbers? How about match-up issues? Yao seems to struggle against certain defenders more than others, was that considered? Did you consider that sometimes people just have bad shooting performances on a given night? How many of Artest and Yao’s good performances did McGrady contribute in other ways (assists/rebounds)? McGrady's injury is a factor, like it or not. BTW, have you ever even had a knee injury? I have had a couple that did not even require surgery, but they are quite debilitating. Even when you come back, you are still negatively impacted. When you cut, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. It also negatively impacts your shot, as so much of a jump shot requires an actual jumping action. I am not saying that McGrady does not have any faults. I think he seriously lacks effort much of the season, and apparently in his dedication this off season (hearsay of course since we were not there and don’t know what kind of pain he was having). He takes poor shots at times (sometimes because everyone else is standing around), and he is certainly not playing much D (see knee injury above), not that he has ever been known for his defense, but is so sickening to read so many stupid T-Mac sucks, T-Mac should retire, T-Mac is Satan threads on this board based on various posters obvious hate for the guy. What is really funny is that many of these posters say stats are BS, and then spend about 30 minutes throwing together some lame analysis without considering all the factors, and suddenly its "empirical” evidence that McGrady is the anti-Christ. I don't know you, or what additional level or evidence you have based your conclusion on besides a short window of games this year, many of which McGrady has been hurt, and personal opinion, but it really sucks to continuously read half the board bashing a Rocket player so much. I have been a Rocket fan since the 70's, and have been through all the ups and downs, but never have I had so much disdain for an individual player as is evidenced by many of the supposed Rocket fans on this board.
I love how people who can't win an argument or have leg to stand on in theirs resort to calling everyone a hater. DD
I completely agree, Stats are a very small part of the picture. How come you didn't put shooting %'s in. T-mac may not have had a great one but lets see how ron and yao shot. Simply saying they both had <15 points because of t-mac is stupid. Ron has been known to have 1-10 nights like in new york. Yao also does struggle with certain defenders. Remember near the beginning of the season when yao was getting blocked 4+ times a game by guards.
sometimes.. I also wonder about why some folks pick up stats to analyze Mac and hate him.. but the same set doesnt believe in stats when Battier is analyzed.. and btw.. I love Battier and what he brings to the team.
LBJ shoots ~2 shots a game less using the playoff stats on NBA.com, and is playoff averge FG% is .433, or .003 better than McGrady. No offence, but it is not just about volume. He is still making his shots a clip that is almost identical to LBJ. I am not saying McGrady is in the same league at LBJ, although he once was IMHO, but to say volume is is inflating his numbers more than anyone else, is not realistic. My guess is that LBJ probably has many more of his shots in the paint than McGrady, and his shooting percent is almost identical to LBJ. That tells me that MCgrady is probably hitting his jumper at a slightly higher rate that LBJ, at least historically. Wheels
If you mean "poor excuse of a Tmac fan" by that I am one of the few that actually have faith in him still then yes. I understand that many people are upset because they love the Rockets so much and have not seen them live up to the hype now with the addition of Artest, but at least I have still have some faith in my team and all it's players. It makes watching the Rockets more enjoyable to follow if you can have a sense of optimism and not disregard what this team is still capable of. It certainly not fun to sit around b**** all the time beacuse we don't have a record like Boston, or Yao doesn't play like Shaq, or Tmac isn't Kobe. . Sitting around demanding ridiculous trades beacause a guy didn't play like you wanted him last game. It would't matter if we won the Championship some of you guys still wouln't be happy enough. I mean this is ClutchFans right not Clutchwhiners. Half the time I love to stick up for T-Mac because people despise him so much. It's true his performance has been very poor and we are tired of all the "shut it down" crap, but to pin all your problems on one player is really lame.
He never was. He never led his team, any of them to the NBA Finals. in the Western Conference or Eastern Conference. The Tmac fans always point to his orlando days and not the houston days, but in Houston, he had a better team and guess what? same result. he's our highest paid player too. Also, ask any Orlando Magic fan who's the best player in their history. Its Shaq, not Tmac. And its not even a close comparison of what he did in Orlando. The Tmac apologists are dumbest fans in the nba, worse than jazz fans.
No argument was made I simply post a postive T-Mac stat line regarding Mcgrady in the playoffs. Then all the people who dislike T-mac showed up with something to say.If anything it just show that stats are simply just stats and can be a misleading standard in which to judge players. I could care less about "winning" an argument on here anyways if there was one. Thats a little bit of a 5 year old mentality.I'll leave all that to you guys who need to feel better about yourselfs. Please dont act like you don't like Mcgrady DD.
We got him in a trade for Steve Francis not Lebron James so you should be pretty happy You didn't trade him for the best player in the world, you traded him for a non-NBA player
shut up rookie. We haven't been out of the 2nd round since 1997 , you were probably an embryo at that time. Real Rocket fans are sick of losing every year in the 1st round and if our 21 million dollar man can't get us out, its time to find someone who can. you can post all the stupid tmac stuff you want, it makes clutchfans look like its infested with stupid nba fans. whoever sucks on this team deserves criticism. i don't care if its yao or tmac or luther. you aren't sticking up for him, you are making excuses for him.
did i mention steve francis? quote me when i did please. I'm not the one saying Lebron and Tmac were once on the same level. reading..its fundamental.
hey rookie, what's more important to you ? 1.Rockets making the 2nd round of the playoffs (without Tmac -DNP) 2.Rockets losing in the first round (Tmac scores 50 points each loss) pick one
What injury? McGrady had minor surgery on his knee, the team physician couldn't find any real damage and one of the leading experts in the country couldn't find any damage. The stats are clear. Whatever the underlying cause when T-Mac scores more than 19 points a game both Yao and Artest score less than their season averages and the Rockets are below .600. When Yao or Artest have big games the Rockets score more, have a better winning record, and the complimentary player in the big three scores higher than their season average. Finally, the team is much bigger than any one individual player. If one player's a problem then he needs to go or be benched.
Wow how nice of you to make a thread about numbers and our record for THIS SEASON. It is indeed an interesting stat. Now how bout you do an overall record on our record when McGrady and Yao play together , or just McGrady without Yao, Yao without McGrady, and our record without both of them Then we will see how interesting the stats look. Even if your up to the test you can do the same for Artest if thats possible.
2 statistical threads to say that T-Mac sucks this year, I really not noticed that Come on guys, a T-Mac apologists will always say that T-mac is the best, so yao's or Artest's. I'm a T-Mac fan and I really hope and believe that he will improve to something good, the latest game are showing a better T-mac. T-Mac is a loser for his playoff failure, I will judge him (and everybody else) in the playoff. GO ROCKETS!!!
