TMac is a quitter. I say trade him for a better player that has more heart. We don't need him.

May be he's not a hundred percent now; still feeling his back can't carry the team any longer.

I don't think you have any clue what it's like to try and play at an NBA level when you've got the back of a 60 year old. Ask Larry Johnson how fun it is.

this is old news. He hinted at that in the Sports Illustrated article about being worn out. I don't believe it.

TMac has been in this league for 10 years but hasnt done anything significant in the playoffs.

It's understandable to lose the motivation and enthusiasm of continue his basketball career.

When this team can get into 2nd round or further, he will change his mind.

Exactly...some of you guys need to lay off of the guy. The guy obviously isn't the same player he was 3-4 years ago, his back just isn't right, imagine what it'll be like in another 3-4 years.

If JVG continues to have the Rockets play the type of game like they have in the last two games, then it's difficult to see them becoming the victors, of any NBA Championships. His win now- Veterans only- my way or no play- Rookies excluded, could bring about a non renewal of contract.
Possibly reason/commonsense might even yet prevail! I hope so for our team's sake.

yep, plus TNT did not break this info this year. There were earlier articles that indicated tracy may be done after current contract.

This is what years of coming short and the long grind does to you. It truly wears out a man's resolve. Naturally, as of now, the only true joy Tmac has found in the game was of his personal success. But does anyone remember that line that he gave us at the end of our 04-05 season?

"I am disgusted and mad and angry and all of that stuff, but at the same time I'm not going to hang my head. I'm 25 years old, I've got a lot of years in this game and I will be back. All of this stuff I'm going through, it's only going to make me tougher. I will never fold. Regardless of being bounced out of the first round, I will be back, my team will be back, and we will back better and stronger."

Just wait. We will see a rejuvenated Tracy by the end of this year - book it.

even with his huge contract coming off of the cap after the 09-10 season the rockets probalby won't be under the cap enough to sign a max player. unless they plan on clearing space for that year but that would contridict the "win now" mentality.

i think the best bet is to go after a championship in '07, '08, and '09. at the deadline of 2010, trade his huge expiring contract for an all-star guard.

some guys that are FA's the summer after tmac becomes one (meaning thier teams may be worried about re-signing them) are:

james, prince, wade, redd, kobe, parker, josh howard, kirilenko.

melo and joe johnson could be FA's in the same summer as tmac (if we go for cap space that summer rather than a championship in his last season).

Honesty and self expression are good virtues.

    Much better than hypocrisy

I agree it's too early but it's up to him.

Look at it from his perspective.

He's a player who's only 27 but he's been in the league 10 seasons and he has a lot of miles on that body. NBA miles at that. His days in Orlando really took a toll on him. Scoring leader twice? All those crazy dunks, high scoring games, dissapointing seasons? Takes a toll mentally and physically. If he retires at the end of the contract it would be a grand total of 14 seasons started after high school. That's a damn lot.

Also, he went through hell last season. He missed what, 35 games? All with a back injury that sounds painful as hell. His confidence, not only in his game, but in his physical ability to play the game is so shaken right now he's talking like it's over. Think about it like that just for a second. None of us went through that last season, along with all the critiscms with his leadership and all.

I'm a huge T-Mac fan, I don't want him to retire but that seems almost selfish. He's getting payed millions to play, but he said he'll fulfill his contract. He said he has a beautiful family to go home too and he's happy with that. Maybe he won't be a HOFer or an MVP in his career but I don't think he cares as much about that as his family. It's kind of sad to hear that point of view because it does show a little lack of competitiveness, i'll admit.

But i'm sure in his mind he thinks in the next 4 seaons he has a chance at the title with Yao at his side.

T-Mac can't be the second man though, as he works himself back into shape he'll realize he's got this under control hopefully. He needs to MAN UP and take this team under control, THE NBA SHOULDN'T LET HIM RETIRE UNTIL HE GETS OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND! :p

Anyways, I do truly hope the Rockets win a title before he goes, because without him on the floor right now we are crap.

Maybe when he gets a taste of the second round, the fire will come back.

He BETTER NOT quit basketball for baseball though, lol.

maybe he's not a quitter, maybe it's a scheme by mcgrady to get rest for starters....

after JVG starts playing Novak, and not putting so many miles on Tmac, Tmac might suddenly change his mind.

    =/ haha worth a shot.
