Tmac is getting fat this season somehow. I don't know, he looked much sharper previous seasons than this season. More fat on his face. Obviously he put on a lot of muscle mass the past summer. His body looks a lot bigger. He is more powerful this season but not as smooth as before. Tmac, get back to your old weight. Those extra muscle thing is not your type. Yao stopped trying to look like Shaq already.
If I'm not mistaken, the reason Bird retired earlier than he would have liked is because he had back problems that couldn't be fixed. You can't blame someone for being injured. Last year, tmac played 78 games and he played amazingly. He was doing everything on the court necessary for the team to win. He probably wone 2/3 of our games single handedly. He lead that team and got them to work together to almost beat the Mavs in 7. He proved to me that he is a top 3 player last year. But I'm sorry, with the injuries that have plagued the whole team and Barry and Anderson and, to a leser extent, Swift not showing up this season, a lot of weight has been put on his shoulders this season and his body has not responded well. If you look at him out there, he doesn't want to attack the basket because at any time, he could have a career ending injury when some idiot like Ron Artest comes in and fouls him so hard that he lands on that back and becomes paralyzed. I'm just saying to look at how amazing he and the team was last season when we were injury free. Don't look at this season where he has spent almost more time off the court than on it. I just remember when I was in high school and I tore a ligament in my shoulder in wrestling. It was the worst pain I ever felt. And my couch still put me out there to get tortured. I would scream in agony as someone torqued on my shoulder. My shoulder may never be the same due to the fact that I wrestled about 10 matches while it was torn. Was it worth it?? NO. And I wouldn't want anyone to try and prove their "superstar" qualities by being stupid and playing injured when it could easily end your career.
Gotta add something to that, Jeff. Saying it's something you can just play through back pain is way off target. As bad as those other injuries might be, NOTHING gets into your head like a back injury. Knowing that something as simple as jumping, turning, etc . . . might be all it takes to leave you in a crumpled heap on the floor makes it damn hard to let go and focus on your game. It's not so much about the pain you are having as it is the debilitating pain that might strike at any second.
Grant Hill is a great player and a great person, but he is one of the reasons why Magic is f*cked up so bad. No matter how good he is, his frequent injuries prevent him from playing, his big salary eats a huge portion of the cap and he becomes a distraction to the team. It is sad and unfortunate. I wish T-Mac won't become another Grant Hill.
hahaha! How soon people forget huh? I think someone already answered this for you. It just comes up. it's chronic in the sense he will probably always have to deal with it. but it's not chronic in the sense he endures pain constantly. It just pops up. I will say this...We may not know how much it hurts, and last night it was reported "his back tightened up." I read that as, it's bad enough that he can't be mobile, and was taking precautions to not F it up. And as far as how much his back hurts, his screams of pain on the Toyota Center floor against the Nuggets being carried off on a stretcher help me try and imagine how much pain. I had a friend who had seats right behind the Rockets bench and they said they were seriously freaked out at the sounds T-Mac made. They weren't freaked b/c their player was down (they were nugget fans), but at the mere sight and sound of a person in that much pain.
While I agree, this is exactly what bothers me the most. He seems to be more worried about it, and thus is treating it gingerly. I don't know....he just seems to be playing far too passive this year, and JVG has called him out on it, and I see it too. Oh well, guess we will just have to wait to see if he thinks he can go. DD
If any other member had posted this, I'd think he'd just be kidding around with Will. However, you've proven yourself to be the biggest McGrady hater on this board...so my guess is that you just have a broken sarcasm meter. EDIT: Apparently McGrady landed on his tail bone when he fell. I'm sure that's happened to many people on this board before (myself included), and believe me it's quite painful. I can't imagine what it'd be like if you land on your tailbone when you already have a bad back.
Sorry if it has already been posted... http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Post_Game_Quotes_030506-170762-822.html TRACY McGRADY (on his injury) "It's (his back) a little tight...it's sore. It's one of those things where I won't know until Tuesday. I'm going to get some treatment tomorrow. I'm going on the trip (to Minneapolis), but the status (of playing) is unknown. I came down on my tailbone. Hopefully, I'll get better and I'll be ready to play on Tuesday."
we didnt need him last night, i was at the game and the rockets had it in hand, they should have took him out after he shot the free throws instead of leaving him in for the minute or 2 that they did
