Yeah, my parents had a few years where their backs were very bad. My mom had it after giving birth to my little sister. THey would have to lay down for hours with a rolled up towel under their lower back.
Yes, I have had severe back pain, and it is certainly debilitating. I think Tmac is certainly having major issues with his back. I said before, I hope he is ok. However, my point was that he is fragile, and some of that just HAS to be attributed to his mental state. DD
I concur with that..I've ben suffering through that for the last couple of months and it sure as hell feels unbearable.. I can't even begin to imagine how painful it must be to play a sport as physically demanding as NBA basketball with an affliction like that :/ .. I hope that Tracy is able to return to good health as soon as possible..
Professional Atheletes will have injuries. To judge T- Mac's greatness or lack there of , it is just silly to even look at this part of his career. Rest up T MAc- this team will only go as far as you AND yao can take it. Hopefully this is not serious.
Does anyone know anything else yet? League Pass had the Portland commentors who barely mentioned he would stay out for the rest of the game. Portland must have one of the 2-3 worst commentating teams in the league along with the Jazz.
No disrespect to TMac or TMac fans, but from Rockets' perspective, you have to wonder if his body can handle the day-in & day-out pounding in NBA anymore. Now I am seriously having some second though that if he can bring the Champion back to Houston with Yao. And I think this is the thought of many others now.
I'm right there with you. i had surgery for a herniated disk at a young age (24), and for the months leading up to surgery, I couldnt stand up straight, I was in constant -unbearable- pain, and I didnt even know it was my back (the nerves in the spinal cord affect your entire body). Basically, until you walk in T-Mac's shoes, STFU.
This is just a joke, everyone comparing their own major injuries to Tmacs, the bottom line is that we don't know how much it hurts, but we do know that it gets hurt a lot on minor plays. And to compare your herniated disk to his strain is ridiculous....he does NOT have a herniated disk. Man, talk about a reach. DD
What Rockets03 said, but I think 3 is little high for you. Judging by his post, I'm not even sure he can count that far. One, comparing Tmac to said players is completely unfair. However, even Jordan quit the game of basketball after a "loss of motivation" after his father passed away. Dream had the heart of a champion, but that didn't stop his heart from slowing him down later in his career. If Magic was "so competitive" he shouldn't have left the game by irresponsibly getting HIV. And I could continue. Two, where was this questioning of Tmac's passion for the game following last year's playoff run? It's easy (and frankly dissappointing) to see so many people get down on Tmac when he's down. I swear, some fans have no loyalty to a guy who has done nothing but give his all. Even his injury resulted from working out all summer in anticipation of this season. Tmac came to Houston because he wanted to win. Now you can argue that Tmac "quit" on Orlando, but any other superstar would have probably become fed up far earlier than he did. He battled very hard in Orlando, amidst an inability to surround him with any semblance of talent aside from Mike Miller and Darrel Armstrong. Three, Tmac is settling for losing records? He led Orlando with a horrible squad to the playoffs and played his butt off every time. Don't confuse his demeanor with "not having heart". "Not having heart" does not kick a ball into the stands for being fed up, "Not having heart" does not score 13 in 35, and "Not having heart" does not prematurely come back from back injury and score 40+. Four, Tmac has lost 9 in 9 years. Period. If you have had a similar experience, please say so, and share how you have handled the situation. If you haven't, please, don't even go there.
I forsee lots of "Trade T-Mac" threads and many "T-Mac doesn't have the heart of a leader, T-Mac is not a champion, T-Mac isn't this, blah blah blah." posts until T-Mac has another good game. Then, I forsee many "T-Mac is great, T-Mac can lead us to this, we're going to the playoffs, etc.". Guys, calm down. If it wasn't serious, I doubt T-Mac would have left the game. But then again, we were against Portland, we were up, so maybe the coaching staff and T-Mac thought it best if he didn't stress his back anymore, since there was some pain. Although the threat of back spasms will never go away, if he gets a lot of rest this off-season, he'll be almost like new. He worked too hard this off-season and it showed. OH BTW, great post Fuzzybear, great post.
What a sissy, that guy. The way he came in here last year and left it to others to lead the team, then did nothing as we limped into the playoffs on a losing streak, then played no D against the Mavs, then chickened out of taking the big shots, then faked all this back injury stuff -- man, it's enough to make me lean off my sofa and reach for another bag of chips.
This is a good post and well argued, and I don't dispute most of what you say, but I still say he is a lot more fragile than other players. The one thing that resonates a lot in your post is losing 9 people in 9 years, that has to be devestating. I like Tmac, I just want him to be more of a leader...... I also think that Tmac is learning to defer a bit more to Yao and it is hurting his game a bit. Well, I will back off for now, yours was a fantastic post. DD
Glad you see it well Dada, I didn't want to single you out, and I know a lot of people are sharing the sentiments, but I just had to respond. Glad there's no hard feelings.
where was the back pain when he had that dunk earlier in the game? what's this back pain that keeps surging every now and then? if it's chronic, shouldn't it be a continuous thing? can no doctor cure his back? or is it incurable?
Didn't watch the game, but judging from the stats, tmac played hard (3stl, 1block, 4 rbs in limited time.). I think this is the dilemma for tmac: if he plays all out, there is big risk of injury due to the condition of his knees and back; if he save some energy, people will call him play with no passion, etc. I feel sorry for him. Hope the injury is not serious, at least this time he could walk off the court.
I guess this is the perfect proof that just because you can dunk, it doesn't mean you don't have back problems. People should refrain from judging the guy too quickly just based on whether or not he can dunk.
if tmac did not have back problems and took that fall, he'd be fine, but dude those things hurt... if allen had the same problem tmac had, i promise you he would be in the same position, those things hurt!
