Yes he will and he deserves it. His last couple of years in Houston were not steller but prior to that he was special.
Based on statistics alone, he should be a Hall of Famer. Overall though, his career was a pretty big disappointment. I voted close call, leaning no.
People keep saying he "quit" on the team when in actuality he had a broke / a very bad broken knee. He also had back issues. Could he have returned sooner from one of those injuries??? How do we really know? Only he would know. I very much enjoyed the TMac/ Yao era and obviously wished it would of produced more!!! Yao was also plagued with injuries and we don't say he quit on HOU. I love both those guys and its almost restarted seeing all the hate on this board towards TMac (Not saying your particular post is hating but I have read many on here)
Tmac was a superstar. Even as a bench player last season, he still gets the fans excited when he steps on the court. He just ended on such bad terms...that i don't know what to vote. And I guess he did make 1 finals appearance lol This is probably one of my favorite pictures when it comes to summarizing the Yao/Tmac era
Wow, Bob McAdoo? Dude won an MVP and 3 scoring titles for the Clippers (when they were the Braves). Hell, he was part of 4 Finals squads, 2 of which actually won the title when he was on the Lakers. I guess I understand the Lakers, but the Clippers have no excuse (they have no retired numbers!)
This is the best comparison I can think of. I think he will, too, but won't get his number retired. Ever.
For those that are saying "no"...I think you've forgotten how talented he was on the court. And Im also not saying to look at stats...he was a powerful force when he was in his prime. He had an unbelievable run for about 8 years. That's almost a decade of top tier basketball. There is no doubt he will be in the Hall of Fame.
McGrady will get in eventually. He wont be a first ballot-er; but his body of work and his career stats will get him in eventually. It may be 10-15 years for him to get in.
McGrady didn't play his heart out in the Playoffs? He is like the 5th leading scoring average in Playoff history (haven't seen the numbers since the Spurs stint). Off the top off my head I can remember two game 7s where he dominated, but it was only him and Yao who made shots. He went up 3-1 against Detroit the year they won the championship. Good God, you people are ridiculous. All I ever hear is speculation about McGrady quitting on his team, McGrady is a loser, blah blah blah. You all just sound like bitter little b!tches. I appreciate McGrady's time here. Everything I have ever heard or seen about the guy has been amazing. He and Yao were both great people regardless of their play on the court, and I will miss them both. I hope he stays relevant and continues his charitable work like Deke. Great Rocket. Sorry he wasn't more successful here, but I personally feel like he gave it his all, his health just wasn't there.
