This my guess on what's going on:

Rockets probably just want to dump Tracy for Baron. (Fair trade for both teams, satisfy both wants)

Clippers are trying get our young players or/and draft picks with Tracy.

Wait.... Are you in the know?
Whats the deal with that rumor that had Carter landing in LA? Is NJ still trying to be a participant?

the thing is the clippers would either have to throw in marcus camby or chris kaman to make the money work and i'm not sure the rockets want to take on that much salary for a couple of years!

Those salaries don't match, do they. Tracy make 20+M while Baron makes 10+M, so Clipps have to throw more salary into the mix... which is probably the stumbling block.

How in the world is he a bargaining chip at a later date? The obvious downside to the proposed trade is that if he doesn't work out, you are stuck with him and his contract for 4 more years.

They (clippers) wanted a 3 way deal W/houston and new jersey that would send....

    Carter to La
    Davis to Hou.
    Mcgrady to N.J

But that lasted a whole 5 minutes i bet

There could be another 3 way deal between Rockets, Jazz and Pistons.

But Camby comes off next year. No problem with that. And Cleveland wants a piece of Camby for an expiring and assets. I don't think Camby is a lose-lose for us.

    here some more.....

Apparently Baron Davis is telling his friends that he's about to be traded. He and Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy aren't seeing eye to eye, so it's best if he moves on. That's viable enough. It's easy to understand how Davis would be frustrated, considering his injury-laden team is getting blown out on a regular basis. It's also easy to see that the Clippers might want to get out from under the long-term deal they inked with Davis this summer if he's unable to get on the same page with his head coach. What's hard to believe is the rest of what Davis is reportedly telling his friends.

The story goes that Davis is being traded to Houston for . . .get this . . .Tracy McGrady. Yes, the same Tracy McGrady who is about to undergo microfracture knee surgery and miss the rest of this season and probably most of next season. In fact, it's debateable whether or not he'll ever play again, as microfracture has a long, drawn-out rehabilitation that requires more intense physical therapy than McGrady is likely to embrace.

Sounds like someone you want to trade for, right?

    Well, that's what's being reported.

Apparently the rationale is that the Clippers would rather pay for McGrady and take his $20 million off the cap next summer than hold serve on Davis' long-term deal, which pays him through 2012-13. Of course, it hardly works as a one-for-one swap, as Davis makes only $11.2 million this season to McGrady's $19.6, meaning the Clippers would have to unload another major contract (Chris Kaman's fits) or a bunch of smaller ones to even make the numbers work out.

The Rockets were absolutely talking to teams to see what they could get for McGrady, despite owner Les Alexander's recent denials. But is it rational to believe that any team would take him as he prepares for season-ending surgery?

Stranger things have happened on eve of the NBA's trade deadline - just not many.

This is off of hoopsworld ......TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT

But the clippers don't WANT to get rid of camby....they are offered Sczerbiak's expiring deal and you think that would rather go with the rockets for TMAC???

I just heard that there will be a tri-lateral trade. rocket、clipper and warrior.

    T-mac to clipper
    camby and magetti to rocket
    davis to clipper.
