I totally agree, but the trade becomes more interesting if you can add another quality player coming back to us like Camby or someone from a 3rd team like Mike Miller...

now that would be a blockbuster deal... We should install Morey's statue outside the toyota center if that happens...

I will install one in India too...

How many times has TMAC advanced in the second round? How many times has Baron? End of discussion.

Looks like the article was updated after Stein's article came out and yet he remains with the same spin. Nothing has been added about the trade looking less likely or anything...

Was reading the article by Marc Stein.

Appearntly the Clips said they were willing to take McGrady knowing that he would be out with the surgery, but the rockets, "Didnt want to take on Baron's Contract."

I dont understand this, your willing to pay Tmac almost 30 Million for doing nothing on this team, but you wont take on a contract of a player that will help this team right now? So what if you dont like the way it looks in the future with Baron, he just gives you another bargaining chip if you wanted to move him at a later date.

Baron Davis helps this team right now and it gets Tmac out of town.

This is what Tracy deserves, to play with the CLIPPERS. Where he will never have to worry about getting his team out of the first round.

I think I just came up with a pretty fair, 3-team blockbuster trade that would help all sides, check it out:

Rockets receive: Baron Davis, Mike Miller

Clippers receive: T-Mac, McCants, Ryan Gomes

T-Wolves receive: Marcus Camby, Shane Battier

    Our lineup would be:

    Yao/Deke
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Artest/Miller
    Wafer/Miller/Barry
    Davis/Skip/Brooks

As is, the trade works on the trade machine, thoughts anyone?

I would immediately call for an impeachment of Obama and designate Darryl Morey as our President to solve the Financial Crisis if this trade went down.

I personally would piss myself, love the idea

    clippers - willing to take mcgrady, even knowing everything that's going on;

rockets - no, not baron's contract.

so it's either a 3-team deal (we just don't know the 3rd team; jersey?) or it is some other players we've asked for.

we shall know in 10 hours.

NBA trading deadline is one of the most intense times of the season.

Every fan hopes and prays their team will be the one they see pop up on the Ticker on ESPN.

Love it, cant wait to see what unfolds around the NBA

Nice Trade! Could this be the trade Doc Rocket is talking about or does it involve Sac-Town?

So is this really going odwn today? What percentage would you guys say? 65-70% chance it happens? God I hope T-Mac is finally gone. I think he has too much pride to admit his career is over. The last time he showed any real fire and passion was the dallas-houston playoff series, and that seems like a long time ago.

Not sure if this was previously posted....

    POSTED: Feb. 18 -- 11:01 p.m. ET

    Davis
Marc Stein: Sources with knowledge of the talks confirmed Wednesday night that the Rockets and Clippers discussed a deal Wednesday that would send Baron Davis to the Rockets.

Don't expect the deal to go down, though.

"Won't happen," said one source close to the process.

Said another: "There was talk [between the teams] but not enough of a salary match."

The Clippers have offered Davis to Dallas and back to Golden State in recent trade proposals and are trying again to bring an early halt to Baron's homecoming after signing the Los Angeles native to a five-year, $65 million deal in the summer. It appears that Clippers coach/general manager Mike Dunleavy -- whose job would figure to be under threat if he weren't owed more than $10 million over the next two seasons after this one -- has the blessing of owner Donald Sterling to shop Davis as much as he wants.

That's presumably because Sterling is determined to slash payroll, not only because of the effect of the global economic crisis on business but also because the most liberal spending of his 25-year ownership -- thanks in part to numerous injuries -- hasn't prevented the Clippers from spiraling to a nightmarish record of 13-41.

My longtime colleague Sean Deveney of The Sporting News was the first to report the possibility Wednesday of Davis' going to Houston. Scroll further down on this compendium of trade chatter and you will also find a report from ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard about the Clips trying to lure Houston and New Jersey into a three-way scenario that would put Davis in Houston, McGrady in New Jersey and Carter in L.A.

Yet I'm told that the Rockets are unwilling to take on Davis' contract even if the Clippers were prepared to structure a deal in which they took back Tracy McGrady, who will be 30 next season when he's due to earn $23 million while trying to make the never-easy comeback from microfracture knee surgery.

I'm abit iffy on this trade if it does go down. Yes McGrady probably is done in a rockets jersey but he could be a valuable trade asset next season with his 20+million expiring. This season, we've all watched games with or w/o Mcgrady and anyone with 1/2 a basketball brain would realise that when Mcgrady is in the lineup he slows things down and disrupt the flow of the offence. I believe this team is capable of making the WCF, it depends on the play on our guys. Lets say if we do well this playoffs (2nd round or Wcf) it may be enticing enough for the Rox org to extend ron and pick up a decent player or 2 with Tracy's expiring.

However, if we trade tracy for baron, we will be stuck with 3pgs, like one of the articles that was posted somewhere in this thread, one of the reasons why Dunleavy and Baron have not complemented well is because Baron likes to run and Dunleavy likes half court sets. Do we look like a running team? no half courts sets to get Yao going? hmm.. if you guys complain about tracy's shot selection, Baron is not much better off. Not to mention the board's craving about a good 3pt shooting pg.. Baron 28% from the 3 and 32% career compared to Rafer 36%career 35% on the season.

Furthermore if we take Baron on board, we are taking his 5years/$65?million contract. If it works out great, if not we are stuck with him unless we can move him which i doubt..my take on this bad trade..

    Baron trade talks going nowhere!

Quick update: Just got confirmation that there have been talks with Houston regarding Baron Davis, but those talks are ``going nowhere'' according to a source.

There is no real link for it but it was reported from LA daily news.
Take it for what it's worth
