If this is true, then the Rockets brass is playing this about as dumb as can be. McGrady is done as a superstar and may be done as anything at all. Getting 80 cents on the dollar even considering a longer commitment would be the prudent thing to do. Why Les has his head firmly and permanently planted in T-mac's crotch I will never know. its not like T-mac has delivered anything of substance to this franchise.

Kind of like they did for Kirk Snyder last year.

50-50 chance. i think it's not a bad deal for both teams. can't see how we can turn it down if we can get rid of mcgrady AND get decent players in return.

I still have a little faith left for this trade to happen.

Doubtful but I guess never say never. What I dont get, is how do salaries not match up? Davis and a filler for McGrady? And Houston is now not willing to take on Davis' contract, but first considered it? Hmm..oh well.

I could see Morey not going to bed at all.

I bet he hasn't slept well the past few days.

But yea, I agree with you. I wouldn't say it's definitely not happening just because of this report. Things can change on a dime.

so this report says that we turned it down. but wasnt there another report saying the clippers were turning it down? WTF? Sounds like no one knows what the heck is goin on. (which is generally the case anyways with all this rumor talk)

This is exactly the type of deal the Rockets should be looking for. A legit all star level PG which is a massive upgrade, size and skill upgrade to the front court for a guy that won't put on a Rockets uniform ever again. Forget waiting to deal TMac's expiring contract next season. This is about as good as we could expect for that contract anyway. And don't tell me you want to hold out for Lebron, Wade, or Bosh. None of those guys are coming here. At best, we are looking at Joe Johnson and that is with Yao 2 years older. We can have Davis, Yao, Artest, and Scola as our top 4 players which is pretty damn good and ALL of them are 29 or younger.

If one team is under the cap (the Clippers) salaries do not have to match...

Rafer + Tmac for BDavis and Camby works

Rafer + Tmac for BDavis and Kaman works

Tmac for BDavis and Kaman works

Tmac for Bdavis and Camby works

    Lots of trades work.

Im not trying to argue or belittle your point, I just want to know what the the alternative point of view is. Cap felxibility is nice, but I honestly don't know if we can land anyone in 2010 that will put us over the edge. I love the idea of pairing Bosh or Wade with Artest and Yao, but its not a certainty if we stand pat.

While the deal is VERY RISKY,(who knows how baron will play) i don't see it making us any worse off than where we would be in 2010 if we dont land a big name free agent.

Making the deal will make us legitimate contenders this year, next year, and in 2010, if Baron plays in the system. 2011 and 2012 would be sketchy, but Yao would be in his decline anyway, and the Baron/Kaman would come off the books.

The more and more I think about it, the happier I become with it.

True. They were "certain" Ken Griffey Jr was going to seattle. Then "positive" he was going to the Braves. Then Ken Rosenthal said he would "Bet the farm" on him going to ATL. Then he signed with Seattle today.

I know its the wrong sport and analysts, but am pointing out that what ESPN says isnt gospel. Theyre wrong quite a bit lately.

I will trade Tmac for Baron Davis and if that's not enough i will throw in Rafer to spike things up. Actually, i will give them Rafer for FREE. That's right, you buy one you get one FREE.

    ....Chuck Hayes anyone?

The Rockets think they can be a player in the 2010 free agent bonanza. Me, I'm not so sure about that. I think a lot of teams are going to wreck themselves over that Summer, and I hope the Rockets aren't one of them.
