I don't care how much of a bummed knee he got, if he could race down the court like that, he could've done a very simple layup. Trying to dunk--and a complicated one at that--epitomizes McGrady's showboat character. He couldn't give a rat's ass about us getting the precious 2 points fastbreak layup, but just had to squeeze out any type of highlight-reel material he could to embellish his otherwise utterly, unimpressive season.
I'm sure the Clippers fans would love to see him score those many points This is old news but at least the poster didn't put that stupid and misleading and the most overrated phenomenon known as "Tmac in Orlando".
It's funny how some people just look at the video and see the 31-9 statline while utterly ignoring Barkley's analysis of McGrady. Barkley is spot on with his analysis. McGrady is the type of player that makes the flashy moves and gets on the highlight reel without regard to how many shots he has to chuck up to accomplish either. What separates him from the basketball Greats--including Barkley himself--is that Tracy does NOT make his teammates better. He takes some of the most unnecessarily tough shots and thereby robs his teammates of scoring. If you chuck up enough tough shots, you're bound to make some of them, if just 25% or less. And THAT, folks, is the winning formula to getting on the highlight reel the most times in a season.
great post. you will learn that certain fans here only care about points and not wins or not even games by the Rockets. people will even try to distort the truth. they will only be selective on points but fail to note to you the important stuff like who won the game, who actually had a better game, and who actually was the better defender too. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=170316 Alot of people here can't handle the truth.
Man, I remember when Steve Francis did almost the EXACT same thing (fast break, no one in front, tried showboating reverse dunk, comes up shot) and fell on the ground and busted his ass. Seems the Rox have always had an affinity for these types of knuckleheads.
What the hell did Charles Barkley ever accomplish in his career? Now if former NBA champion Kenny Smith says something, then Tracy (and Chuck) should definitely listen. Winning > Losing Kenny > Tmac and Charles Right? Or does that logic not make sense?
1993 NBA MVP 5 Time All-NBA First Teamer 5 Time All-NBA Second Teamer Named as one of the 50 greatest players of all-time He also got out of first round a few times... If you ignore the fact that Kenny only won rings because of Hakeem Olajuwon or that Barkley led teams to the second round of the playoffs and beyond, then sure, it makes sense. It also may be worth noting that it was guys like Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan that kept Barkley from winning a championship whereas McGrady has been denied a mere second round appearance by the likes of Andre Kirilenko and Kyle Korver.
But what about Tracy McGrady in Orlando? He was a scoring champion! I bet he made it to the finals cause he's just as good as Kobe!
Tinman on the real I wouldn't mind if we can't trade T-Mac for us to get that kind of production out of him as a Rocket. He is in a contract year and I love the Rockets a lot more than I hate him. If he even gets back to 07-08 form with this team we have a good shot at winning it all, abeit if everyone is resigned AND healthy.
Excuses, excuses. Winning is winning and losing is losing right? Anybody can put up nice numbers on a team that doesn't actually win anything, at least that's what I'd been led to believe by all these rabid anti-Tmac people...
Man I wish that Tmac for Billips/Hamilton thing would have gone down last year. His value was really high then. Dude this is a broken record. We need non injury prone players. We won't get rid of Yao. If he stays and breaks down again, this is all on Morey.
I'm sorry but I have to laugh as well... I never knew ron and von were laughing their asses off after that missed dunk from tmac. Though I don't understand why Tmac was trying to reverse dunk that when he knows his knee isn't 100%, he should have just layed it in easily.
