truth is, especially when confronted, McMgrady can't very well come out and say a guy isn't going to help out, or isn't a good addition. hope Span's good, dont get me wrong, just dont want a world of expectation on him. guess there ain't much chance of that around here though.
Those were great comments by TMac. Wow. I got some new comments from TMac. Mcgrady: "that kid is going to be a nice player for us" Thanks Tmac, you the man!
His performance at Fiba is exciting, but I don't think we could expect too much of him this year as we all know JVG doesn't trust rookies
When exactly did "we all" learn that JVG doesn't trust rookies? Regardless, V-Span is a unique rookie. He's played professionally for several years and is 24 years old. He isn't exactly wet behind the ears.
I guess luther head was not a rookie either (van gundy sure did play him) Van gundy does not play players who do not play hard or play smart. Rookies tend to not play smart. but there are exceptions such as head
Off subject here but I did not want to start a thread about this: Can someone come up with a count down till the pre-season(Days,hours,minutes type of count down). I just can't wait.
I don't know if Head is such a good example. Van Gundy said many times that Head was getting a unique opportunity because of all the injuries. I doubt he would have seen many significant minutes if DA, Wesley, Rafer, and McGrady stayed healthy all year.
You know there is no way that Luther would have gotten anything besides mop up minutes if not for all the injuries. The reason you can't find rookies that JVG did not play is because he historically doesn't even let them on the roster. JVG is always pushing for acquisitions of veteran, proven players. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you can acquire players with plenty of gas still in the tank. Remember, Head is only a 2nd year player this year. It will be interesting to see how the minutes are doled out this season. The thing I am most worried about is him running TMac and Yao out there for too many minutes so that by the time we get to the playoffs they are run down.
