lol you really hate this guy... if injuries hadn't derailed him so much anyone with basketball knowledge knows he was a legit hall of famer, he was good as kobe imo.
oh lord help me! I read it, yes Malone helped him, but nobody becomes a hall of famer in college, how stupid can you be to actually beleave that! Yes Malone helped him become a great college player, Ralph sampson helped him become a great NBA player! U know, ur so obsessed with all these hall of gamers that I'm starting to think ur a fan of the old rockets rather than today's team! U cannot compare every player to these legonds, if u do than u become jaided and bitter to and about players who didn't make the NBA famous!
Speaking of Ralph Sampson, The Rockets never retired his number. Him and T-Mac played about the same amount of games here. They both had injuries derail their careers but Sampson helped the Rockets reach the NBA finals. Do you think the Rockets organization would retire T-Mac's number before they retired Sampson's number?
That is my point. The Rockets aren't going to retire T-Mac's jersey when they didn't do the same for Sampson who had more success here.
I said earlier that I'm not predicting that we will retire his jersey, I'm saying that I think we should
you really don't read do you. imo= in my opinion some tmac fans opinion doesn't cut , it's quite obviously he was never as good as kobe and kobe is not a rocket, by the way. it's the rockets organization to decide who gets their number retired at toyota center
I wasn't going to get involved but now I feel I have to...Are you actually reading tinmans posts or do you just plain not understand them? Nowhere in that post does he say he wouldn't retire Kobe's Jersey, he is saying that T-Mac perhaps WAS as good as Kobe before the injuries or whatever his reasoning was, now i'm a big T-Mac fan myself and I still try to catch all the Detroit games to see him play and seem to be one of the few members of this forum who would like to see T-Mac get cheered as he did bring some great seasons to Houston and a lot of entertainment as well. However with that said, there is NO chance that he should have his jersey retired in Houston. Just because he played well for a few seasons while in Houston he never actually accomplished anything for the organisation in terms of championships or even play off runs. When you look at all the retired jerseys up there now each and every one of them you can tell a story of the greatness they have done for this Houston Organisation and like I said with T-mac, what would he be remembered for that would truly dignify him as someone that deserves to be up there with the other Houston Rockets?
Pathetic... Putting his jersey in the same vicinity as Dream or Calvin is as big a slap in the face to Houston as can be. We might as well retire Scottie Pippen as well, and wipe our asses with our championship banners.
Really!? Kobe's not a Rocket!? OMG I had no idea! And once again you state the obvious, it's up to the organization, which is why I've said that I don't think his jersey will get retired but in my openion it should be!

13 in 30 isn't historical, leading us to 22 strait wins wasn't historical! The fact of the matter is that 20 years ago it only took one player like Hakeem to win the title! For the past 10 years it's taken more, not that the players are better but the teams are! Players were more respected because what they did Individually resulted in more wins than it does now. I am by no means taking away from what they did, but what I am saying is that when u only look at those times and u judge players today on what they did, than nobody deserves their jerseys in the rafters because to win a championship now days u have to get through teams with more than just one hall of famer (there were exceptions but for the most part teams had 1 max)
NBA Champions from "back then" and their Hall of Fame players. Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen Houston Rockets Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler (2nd Title) Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen Detroit Pistons Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars I don't need to list the Lakers and Celtics titles in the 80s.
I said there were exceptions, I probably should say title contender rather than title winners! With that being said, there is no doubt that it's harder to win a title now days! Every aspect of the game has evolved.
