Consider that current team has such bad record right now, many people may indeed miss TMac. Regardless, a warm welcome is expected. Overall, Tmac time in Houston is not bad as someone suggested.
People on these forums give him too much credit. The only reason he was successful on our team is because he spread the floor for the rest of our players. As far as his actual performance in his time here, aside from the first year or so its been nothing like the T-mac we originally traded for. Thanks T-Mac you were FUN TO WATCH. thats about it. No thank you for your bad attitude, lack of compassion, and bloated ego, and nothing past a first round exit. The only time we made it past the first round was WITHOUT t-whack. Ron Artests one year here > all of T-macs years
I try to stay out of Tmac threads on this forum at all because some members here (especially long time members) seem to hold grudges as if someone did something directly to them to wound them. Tmac is gone. Although I root for him it is clear he is a shadow of him former self. But for all the things Tmac did do here regardless of his last 2 in a Rockets uniform I expect those decent people that show up to game will give him some cheers as he enters and that will be it... No grudges heldover from seasons past. No petty whining about he quit on us wahh wahh wahh, he doesn't deserve to live anymore. Which is how it feels around these boards. Tmac is a former shade of himself -- which is to say so are some of the members here.... wahh wahh wahhh.
I'm done with the whole tmac argument, it was goin nowhere on either side! Honestly, does mis spelled words really matter here?? Does it actually bother you? Does mud spelling a few words have anything to do with basketball???
dude this is the only game of the year you can see your hero play. you can get the cheap nose bleed seats.. you know the ones way up there next to the rafters.
I don't think you can guarantee that MJ would put those Rockets teams over the top, just like you can't guarantee that the Rockets would have beat the Bulls in the finals. There's a strong likelihood that the Rockets would have beat the Bulls team, just like there's a likelihood that MJ could have carried the Rockets teams that McGrady failed to carry - but you cant guarantee something that never happened. And I'm not saying that a healthy McGrady and Yao would have brought us a championship - cuz we just don't know. And by NO MEANS am i saying his # should be retired by the Rockets like some believe - he just didnt accomplish enough to get that kind of recognition. All i'm saying is that its unfair to discredit him because his last two seasons here were plagued with injuries. Maybe that has something to do with where the bitterness for McGrady comes in - the fact that he brought so much optimism, only for us Rockets fans to be let down again - A TEASE you could say. But do really think that McGrady really wanted to shut it down when 08-09 was his best shot at getting out of the first round with Artest and Yao? I don't think so..his knees gave out on him and he had to shut it down. Players dont elect to go through possible career threatening surgeries just for people to feel sorry for them. I think he did enough to at least get a warm welcome. There hasn't been much to cheer about over the last 10+ years, but when he was at his best, it brought some excitement, gave us something to cheer about, and gave us some sort of hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel. And IMO, he's probably one of the top 15 players to ever put on a Houston Rockets uniform. You probably will still disagree and that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. You've been around the sport longer than I have so your views are gonna be different, but i'm cool with that.
people who have actually seen players play > stats. you'll face this situation too in the future when some kid says that Tmac score 30 points in the 2nd round of the playoffs and you can correct him by saying he never made it to the second round.
Yeah i've seen some of these players play, especially Jordan (hated that dude-just too unstoppable), Hakeem, Clyde, Barkley, Payton, etc. and i have great respect for those players from the past more so now because of how they played the game and how they carried themselves. I guess McGrady will go down as one of those players who could never reach his full potential for whatever reason...
Hell Yes Manu > Tmac. He'd make tmac sing don't cry for me argentina. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5nBKKYi93H8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5nBKKYi93H8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Don't cry for me TMac, the truth is that Tim Duncan never needed you through out the 2000s and through out the playoffs championships during my existence you kept needing medical assistance
personally, i'd give him some good applause, nothing crazy, like i would to a Steve Francis when he was with the Magic or anything like that, but i wouldn't boo him. actually, i'm hoping he does good in the future if he ever recovers from that knee.
I would boo him, this is the same guy who decided to have surgery nearing the end of the trade period without telling the Rockets about it, he is forever a traitor in my eyes. We didn't even need his sorry ass to get to the second round with Yao and Ron, if he didn't decided to do what he did who knows, we might have been able to actually get something in return for him when it mattered the most. Always a dog in my eyes.
After reading the first few pages....I would clap for him...maybe a standing ovation...but I sure as hell wouldn't retire his number with the rockets. Although he had a rough ending he did provide some fun times along the way. 13 in 42, Dunk over Shawn Bradley in the Mavericks playoff games, 22 game winning streak. It was a fun run until injuries came in.
don't cry for me Argentina is a song from the musical Evita referring to Eva Peron, first lady of Argentina. Manu Ginobli is from Argentina. trying to give the TOFs some culture besides their Ke$ha and Sponge Bob Square Pants.
