I'm not going to try to make sense out of what he (or his handlers) write anymore. I think its more likely that what he's writing isn't quite true then he's telling the truth and the Rockets are hiding it.
i think the rockets and tmac did agree on that date. the team was about to publicize it, but tmac just had to do it himself and now the team is pissed b/c it seems like he's controlling the shots. so now, they're going to hold him out longer. again in the yahoo article, adrian and spears claim that other rocket sources confirmed the same thing, not just mcgrady.
Where? [rquoter] After eight months of rehabilitation on his surgically repaired left knee, Tracy McGrady(notes) has told Yahoo! Sports he plans to return to the Houston Rockets’ lineup on Nov. 18. After several league sources informed Yahoo! Sports of McGrady’s timetable, the seven-time All-Star forward confirmed he planned to make his season debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis next week. “Excited to get back and compete at a high level again,” McGrady said in an email to Yahoo! Sports. “For a full year I had to play on one leg against the best and I couldn’t compete with anybody the way I was feeling. “It’s gonna be a relief to get out there and play knowing what I went [through] last season and this summer.” While McGrady is awaiting final clearance from team doctors, Rockets sources don’t expect there to be any problems. One source close to McGrady says he’s “still feeling a little pain” in his knee, but the front office and coaching staffs are encouraged by his progress. Houston general manager Daryl Morey refused to commit to a firm date for McGrady’s possible return. “While we are all encouraged by the fact that Tracy’s rehabilitation has been ahead of schedule, we must remain vigilant through the next stages of his recovery,” Morey said in a statement released by the team Monday night. “No timeline has been set for his return. He will return when team doctors, officials and Tracy all agree it is best.”[/rquoter]
While you might find this entertaining, it's not helpfull. whilst i believe mcgrady is gonna be 24-5-5 type player, there is a time and place. consult morey before this announcement.
he's been practicing, trust me everything the media reports is bs in general. They report what they are told to report. The truth is rarely reported. the media doesn't know as much as you guys think
when all is said and done (which never happens), we are all turning into drama queens. it is embarassing.
He has been practicing, I dont know if he looked really good or not, but if he's saying he's ready, this is a good thing.
Well, "went full speed in practice" is not the same thing as "participated in a full practice." I don't see the contradiction, although it is easy to see why it would look like one. The biggest questions prior to todays news/rumors/opinions/whatever-you-might-call-it were whether he was in game shape -- had the stamina to go through entire games. There was some speculation on whether he was still favoring his knee, but from miscellaneous video evidence, anecdotes etc. it certainly looked like he is already able to do most normal things on the basketball court that he needs to. The unanswered question is whether he can do it for a full on contact 48-minute game, do it again the next day on a back-to-back, etc. That I believe is the question that the Rockets believe has not been answered yet, and they are not going to put him back on the court until they feel they can answer that question confidently. They're certainly not going to go through the whole "one night of back-to-backs" fiasco again. Like I posted in the other thread, I would like to see someone put a microphone in T-Mac's face tomorrow and ask him when he thinks he will return. So far we have Yahoo sports claiming he said the 18th, but we don't know exactly what they asked him or how he answered, and we have these other so-called "Rockets sources" who might be as reliable as Random CF.NET Poster's Fourth Cousin Twice Removed's Golf Caddy whose sister married a janitor at Toyota Center and has a juicy trade scoop. I think someone is twisting words or there is some miscommunication going on. But then, it seems that these communication fiascos have always been a trademark of McGrady's career, sadly.
McGrady is to good hearted and naive. he's never had any media training. he needs be alot more selective. to honest for he's own good.
I wish McGrady would shut his mouth and work WITH the Rockets on this instead of stepping out on his own like last season. Through the years, I've learned to take what he says with a grain of salt. The Rockets are paying him a chunk of money last season and this season for little in return. The least he could do is go along with the program, but he's just not that kind of guy. Hope he doesn't step out on his own and ruin the flow of Adelman's offense, but that's asking too much.
There's no doubt that McGrady thinks he could return to the court tomorrow if possible. He feels ready. He feels good. He is itching to play basketball. This is his life...he has found his first love again, and he thinks he can go back out there and reclaim his lost glory starting tomorrow. The problem is, last year, this was exactly where the problems started. He felt good, went out, dropped a triple double. And then the next game his performance dropped precipitously, and with every passing game it gradually became obvious that he was not capable of handling the rigors of an NBA season, like a slow-moving train wreck with casualties all over the place. It's clear that the Rockets are NOT going to let that happen again, and they will delay his return by two months if they have to do make sure it doesn't happen again. I fully believe Daryl Morey when he says that he wants to see McGrady go through a full practice and wake up the next day feeling good before he will allow him to suit up, and I believe that has not happened yet. But then, we already knew all this. The question is who in the Rockets org (or Tracy's team) fed Wojnarowski with a juicy tip about McGrady's return, triggering this latest media fiasco?
Mac is just frustrated because he is ready to go out there but the Rockets/doctors won't let him because they are being extra careful, with good reason. We now know that he has been fully going through the practices and he's eager to get back on the court but doesn't like the Rockets approach to his situation. Well, too bad for him because he caused himself to get in this mess by informing the media last year about his surgery before he told the team.
last year was different. mcgrady also told us that he wasnt 100% and his shoulder and knee was problably going to bother him.
Simpler and more likely explanation than your conspiracy theory: A douche bag is simply acting like a douche bag. Same as always.
