I think he actually do wants to play but there are a lot of guys on the all-star roster who deserves to play more than him. A difficult yet classy move :) . A few minutes of play would be fine for him. Another 8 minutes perhaps? :)

    his showed class.
plus he played quite well last night didn't he?
maybe if he becomes his-old-self again he is actually eligible to play in the all star game

He will get criticized for turning it down as well (disrespecting the fans, the voting process).

His best hope is for the NBA to rig it so his votes magically disappear.

Or for a player to magically gain several thousand votes.

We all know that happened once.

    Mcgrady has his own pride.

He haven't played intensive minutes and great production for a long time and yet still get voted in, as an allstrar starter! He wants to be in the all-star purely based on his skill, not on popularity.

Or it could have been the guys recognizing Mac was making the right plays. You go to the player who is playing well. That's what they did. He wasn't stagnant, was quick with his decisions with the ball, passed it around. I don't really see how you could knock him for his play on the offensive end of the court. If it were Brooks making the same exact plays we'd be singing his praises. Do you not notice that Brooks can *at times* dominate the ball?

didn't he give his spot to AI a couple of years ago?

he took himself out of another ASg iirc.

do people have nothing better to do with their time and energythan to find any way possible to lambast McGrady and his efforts.

and anyone who supports the ROCKETS and their decisions to p;lat T-Mac is a fanboy automatically.

I swear this place is twisted and does not represent the view of Global, International, Nationwide and local Rocket fans...

Why doesn't he want to play in the all-star game in the first place? I mean, it can't really hurt, he's going
be having a lot more play time if he'll be a starter and that way he can do some really good things and really
improve his game. It can only be positive...if that's what the fans want to see, just play and try to impress
them, accept while you have the chance. I hope he decides to actually play when the time comes..

My question is "If TMac is traded to an Eastern Conference team before the All-Star game will those votes still count"?

Yes. I believe when Iverson went from Philly to Denver, his all-star votes carried over.

    its happened twice

i do agree with mcgrady actually him playing in the ASG is just bad for the team actually and him. if he comes out and plays well then questions will be like "why isnt he playing more?" this will put pressure on the Rockets and if he plays bad then its bad for him

all-star voting is a big joke "fans" do vote but i am sure somewhere down the line Stern or someone in NBA Marketing sits on a computer and adds in the votes where needed.

watch second returns will have mcgrady far behind probably.

the NBA did this the last 2yrs. It helped the rigging process when he says he's not going to play just like last year.

I'm sure if T-Mac is still with this team by the ASG, he will get significant minutes. So there will be no "why isn't he playing more" questions because he most likely would be playing more. Unless you're assuming T-Mac plays 8 minutes a game all season.

No, Karl Malone of the Lakers decided he wasn't in the best form to play, the NBA said if he didn't he would have a one game suspension...

I'm not sure if the Rockets have a problem with that.
