T-Mac has said in last night's interview that he will not play in the All-Star game even if he wins in the voting. With his habitual classiness, he stated he'll attend to show appreciation for his fans (90% of them Chinese, he admits), but he won't play when there are other guys who have been working hard all year, deserve the playing time, and he has too much respect for them. link: <object width="388" height="394" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="ep"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="movie" value="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=rockets&videoId=teams/rockets/2009/12/23/12222009lockerRoommov-1161932" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><embed src="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=rockets&videoId=teams/rockets/2009/12/23/12222009lockerRoommov-1161932" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="388" wmode="transparent" height="394"></embed></object> Also, he mentioned he used to visit China when he was still with the magic. I only started following him when he came to Houston so I always assumed, and I've heard sports commentators mention this as well, that his Chinese fame was mostly due to Yao Ming. So did he have some kind of following there pre-Houston?
Aww....come on t-mac, we really wanna see you in the all-star game, otherwise we wouldn't be voting for you....I'll keep voting for t-mac everyday even if he's not going to play....whatever happens, GO T-MAC!!!
Yeah, that's the only bad part in this, I really feel like by All-Star time he will be capable of really doing some good stuff and I'd love to see him. I guess there's always next year
i love t mac but he just doesnt fit with our team anymore. i do agree we need a go to guy but i dont think he's the guy. they slow the game down too much for tmac. last night (i guess bc he only plays a small amount of minutes) they just kept giving the ball to him. i think instead of doing that run your normal offense, make mcgrady show you he can move and sync with the O bc if not everyone else's game suffers when he's in there. you could see it last night. as soon as he stopped playing the game got exciting. now its exciting watching him play but i just dont think he fits anymore. maybe in time but right now i say he still should be traded....if we can find the right piece to replace him. i kno this thread is about his all star appearance and thats nice of him to do, i thk he should play but a lot of ppl dont so i guess it was the right thing to do...i jus had to get it off my chest. i feel like this everytime i watch him now...man i love our rockets..
I felt completely the opposite, when mcgrady left the game it became boring I find it entertaining to watch a player take over, but honestly if were keeping yao we shoud definitley keep t-mac, that's the only peice to the puzzle we were missing last year a real SG.
I'm pretty sure he's required by NBA rules to play. Didn't someone a few years back try to give their starting spot to MJ and the NBA said no?

Just freaking play. It's a fan vote and the fans have voted. I think if Obama can accept a Nobel Prize for future actions, allowances can be made for Tmac to play in the All Star Game.
wwooowwww looks like tmac finally got himself a good PR team instead of just that guy writing his blogs. that being said though, it did sound like it was from the heart and tmac has always been blatantly honest during interviews. although if he changes his mind when the all stars roll around because hes playing AWESOME...this board might explode from the hate.
I think you're not allowed to give your spot to someone else, but you're allowed to refuse it. That's IIRC though. Classy move by T-Mac. Surprised people are actually b****ing about this.
exactly mac has nothin to worry about hell rig it again like he did last year mcgrady is who the fans want to see play but the nba is gonna put in who they want
That was class act by McGrady. Personally, I think he should play if he improves greatly between now and the All Star game but at the same time I'm nervous about him injuring himself out there when the game doesn't really help the Rockets record wise.
