I had the privilege of watching both live... I would probably go with the Kobe 81... just because of the excitement. As a Rockets fan, it was an unbelievable sight though because we won the game.... and I had a bet against a Spurs fan on that game. :)

Whole-heartedly disagree there. Bottom line is no one has done anything remotely close to what McGrady did. Let us not forget David Robinson's 70 some odd to secure his scoring title against Shaquille O'Neal. He could have gone for more.

Exactly. McGrady's record since much more unlikely to ever be broken. Hell, does anyone remember when Tony Freakin' Delk went for 53? Who?!

BTW why didn't McGrady's 62 point game get mentioned? Certainly it should be on the list. I think he missed 10 free throws that game also.

The 81 points is impressive, but it just feels like another 60-points game. Any player who scored 60 points in a game could definitely made it to 81 points easily had he taken more shots. I mean, Kobe only had 2 frickin asssits that game. What does that tell you? He didn't pass, all he did was shoot. Also, it was against the Raptors, a terrible team back then. Impressive but not amazing. My vote goes to MJ or T-Mac. Scoring 50 point at age 38 is just ridiculous. Half the NBA players can't even grab the rim anymore at age 38. The 13 in 33 is just the perfect combination of clutch and rare, but it was what T-Mac did that impressed me the most. It was the looks on the Spurs' players' face that did it.

81 points is pretty incredible. Although it was against the Raptors. Still 81 points.

13 in 35/33 whatever...I mean all his 3s were contested...heavily. Even got a 4 point play out of one of them.

Sure, Kobe has hit tons of gamewinners, but Tracy had to hit like 3-4 in a row to win this game against the Spurs, not exactly a crappy team.

The other choices aren't even close to me. The old clips of the Mad Max, although great, aren't up there as much to me.

It's tough to choose between the two. I lean towards 81 points, but then you just say, well Wilt scored 100 and didn't even finish the game. It's like the Rockets 22 in a row, it's great, but still 2nd to the actual record.

I think T-macs performance there was probably impossible to repeat. Kobe's 81 you have to remember was against paper defence and he basically took every shot in the game. I'd rank his 61 against the Mavs better then his 81

I was acutally thinking about this one, but its not even on the list which is kinda strange in my opinion. But like I said I don't even know why the 81 is even in the discussion. The 61 point vs the Mavs (coached by Avery at the time) was alot better then the 81 in my opinion.

The list was for regular season performances.

ahhh that makes sense. Look if your basing the performance on merit then I would go with this:

    61 pts Kobe vs Dallas
    T-mac
    81 Pts Kobe vs Raptors

    It's either Kobe's 81 or the 13 in 35.

I'm sure they could've chosen some other regular season game besides Lebron's game in MSG to vote on. I hate how they try to stick him in every poll no matter what. Stop trying to ram Lebron down everybody's throats.
