Novak shot was great, but the level of difficulty is nothing compared to the Golden State shot. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0idEHGQFlP4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0idEHGQFlP4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> sorry. some people just hate the old school.
Whoever says "oh Tmac's 13 in 33 seconds will be duplicated again.... all someone has to do is get hot at the end of the game and shoot nothing but 3's..." What makes it incredible is, it's not like the Spurs weren't scoring and we just kept getting stops, then running down and jacking up 3s.... the Spurs were making FREE THROWS. They did what they were suppose to do. And oh yeah, throw in the fact that the NBA's best defender was on Tmac. It's just incredible.... I mean you think of Kobe scoring 81, at first it was impressive but at the end of the day, after what he has done this season with last second shots, NOTHING surprises me anymore with Kobe. He can't do anything thats makes me say "OMG this is a once in a lifetime moment!"... That sums up his entire career.
Is it just me or did it look like Denver's head coach just said F it, and gi8ve up after that shot. I think it broke his spirit....
and it was at MSG. For some reason the allure of MSG and New York seems to get more pub. Like when Jordan came back and dropped 55. it wasn't 55, it was 55 at MSG! My favorite MSG moment was a rookie named Sam Cassell made his name.
I don't know if its been mentioned in this thread, but I think if certain players in the league wanted to, they could get 81. However, I think it was the absolute perfect storm for Tracy's 13 in 33. We were down 10 with less than a minute and San Antonio hit all of their FT's and we STILL won on a miraculous set of 3 pointers including a 4 pt play. I struggle to believe that play will ever be matched (although Aaron brooks hit like 3 threes down the stretch in the playoffs last year if anyone recalls). I think if you give Lebron James 4 or 5 games to get 81 points and allow him to shoot the same number of shots as Kobe, he could do it. The problem is no one team really wants one player to shoot such an absurd number of shots, and Kobe's supporting players on that team were absolute garbage, so it almost made sense for him to keep going in such a way. 81 was an amazing feat, but if we get another awful supporting cast with a mega-superstar like Kobe, we could possibly see a repeat of the 81 game. I struggle to believe another 13 in 33 would happen again. But who knows...
Not to take anything away from Kobe, but I do think several players (past and present) could get 80 in a game, if the coach goes out one night and says you are going to get 40+ shots tonight and the next 6 games. I think there's quite few players who could get 70+ in that situation, especially the centers.
Yeah I remember that. I believe he scored 11 points in about 26 seconds with two to go in the game when Lowry was called for the foul on Fernandez (he flopped), and they turned the ball over but it got overruled by the foul. Had we gotten the ball back, Brooks would have had a chance to go for 14 points in 28 seconds  Only difference if that happened was: Portland missed a lot of freethrows, and it was in the playoffs.
Ok after your first comment I didn't see it bounce off the backboard. I thought Hakeem passed it back. I'll give you that it was more impressive then Novak, but in no way more impressive then T-mac. Old school or not, what T-mac did has never been achieved.
I cant help but notice that tinman is trying to make tmacs performance seem underwhelming. how could someone even post that maxwell shot in this thread. Its a crazy shot, but its not even in the same stratosphere as tmac and kobes performances. For what its worth, I think Kobes perfomance is the best of the decade because of the historic implications, but tinmans posts seem like he wrote them buzzing of a few shots of that TMac haterade...
I'm gonna say that Kobe will win this one. No amount of votes from China will change that. Even they know Kobe's 81 was the better performance. Step out of the Rocket or Tmac-a-world and not many nba fans know about the T-mac performance. Everybody knows about Kobe and 81.
Your right, but since when does a Rockets fan (which I consider myself to be) care about what the main stream nba fans care about?
tmac still couldnt get anywhere near 81 points even against the raptors. i don't know if AI could have. Maybe Reggie Miller or Larry Bird could have if they just jacked 3's every possession down. but 81 freakin points. i hate the lakers and i couldnt help but be entertained and amazed.
i guess you wouldnt know it but the fans gave up on the lakers that game. the lakers were a mediocre team. kobe was their only real contributor thus he HAD to take all the shots. his teammates were all sucking it up. he carried that team on his back that game. even an amazed phil jackson said, "I've never seen anything like that."
