was that a 4th qtr against lenny wilkens' cleveland team? remote memory now. can't remember which year that was. 90 or 91?
DD, if you can say you are a hater, I'll say I'm an apologist. Of course its not that TMac can do no wrong, its more that when TMac scores 20+ and misses the game winner, within the hour, out come the "Trade TMac threads", and when Wafer has a great first half and a subpar second half, you still have the "I love Wafer threads". The expectation for each of them is so very different. Without question, right now it is more satisfying to watch Wafer give 200% then watch TMac limp around and look somewhat despondent. But remember, when TMac is absolutely single handedly dominating a game, he also kinda looks despondent, or better said, calm, aloof, he looks completely sure of himself (with an occasional grunt of passion). That same look looks awful when he isn't playing well. And its not just a look, its who he is. Its the place he goes to, the mindset that works for him when he begins to assert himself and attempt to take over a game. Without question TMac led this team when Yao went down, led this team (with everyone contributing) to the 22-0 record setting streak. That TMac can dominate in the regular season isn't in question. That is precisely why he is getting so hard this year. He raised the bar for himself last season. In short, all this bickering is sensationalistic and often bordering on ridiculous. Rooting for a team is really quite easy. Pointing out that TMac isn't super consistent, particularly this season is beyond obvious. The only question is whether his up-side is worth his down time. And if we get post season success this year, the answer is most definitely going to be "yes", "definitely worth it".
Nobody wants to lose in the playoffs, everyone wants to win. But I'd much rather go into the playoffs with Von Wafer, knowing he left it all on the court and still lose. Than go into the playoffs with mcgrady half assing it and lose anyways. Giving a full days effort goes a long way in my book, even if your not the most talented, at least you can play the game like it's your last. It's much better than being so talented that you think you make your team better by just standing on the court.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/9066420/Why-Kareem-isn't-a-head-coach A surprising quote there. I wonder if it applies to the Rockets current locker room troubles.
This is exactly what I said elsewhere. When TMac is playing well, people say he's so talented he makes it look so effortless. When he is playing bad, people say he's lazy and is half-assing.
If it goes like Apologist -5 -- +5 Hater I'll draw a line at +1. I dont like his attitude and lack of effort on the court and some silly words he said in public though it might be his personality. Sometimes, he's MeMac and that just made me confused whether the BB is a five men's game or not. Hopefully he is able to come back strong, otherwise, what Doc Rockets said might come true. If the day shall come, please be sooner. I dont want another season like this anymore.
